Arsenal vs Derby

Post by Goonanana »

So our next Premier league game is against the so called "whipping boys" of the league, will be smash 4 or 5 past them or will they fight tooth and nail with 11 men behind the ball and make it a very frustrating afternoon? I'd be more inclined to say the former, however the question I ask is this:

Given the gruelling fixture schedule and the fact that with internationals and the champions league we seem to have been playing two games a week every week, including the Champions league this Wednesday, would you risk resting some players because its the only "easy" game we'll get in the league this season?

If you answer yes, please state who you'd like to see rested

This is one of those games that will be harder than it looks, i think we should just keep the winning formular going.
I do think though Arsene will rest players not because it's Derby but because we would have just played Sevilla which will probly be our hardest game this season so far.

Depending on injurys and fitness the team i would play agaist Derby is
GK Almunia
RB Sagna
CB Kolo
CB Senderos
LB Clichy
RM Helb
CM Cesc
CM Flamini
LM Walcott (needs a start)
ST RvP (or drop Rvp for Eduardo)
ST Ade

Man where's SM for this a poll, not without his grant
Ok to get on with it we could rest one player maybe but i want the top stop to be abit more safer as Man City got the win over Villa yesterday afternoon where there now one point behind us :(
Our defence wasn't the strongest but i think Kolo may deserve a good rest if Willie & Phillipe can come back in
Really the same team can be used & we must win at least by a few goals like Liverpool & Spurs & Alummia should have an easy game otherwise

You know how it always is .. a team rolls over for everyone else, but when it comes to the arse, they have a blinder ...

so, we need to wake up to the fact that there are really no easy games ... and it will only become easi against derby, when we have broken them by knocking in a couple of goals ...

having said that, I would rest a couple of players:
cesc, RvP, Toure

Line-up:
almunia
sagna
gilberto
senderos
clichy
walcott
flamini
edmilson
diaby
ade
dudu

subs:
rosicky
hleb
cesc
toure
diarra

Did we buy edmilson without me noticing lol, Presume you mean Denilson!

I agree that Derby are going to make it tough for us and so I would be moer inclined to put players on the bench rather than drop all together, however I think if we want to really challenge for the title we are going to have to be brave and have faith in our players, i'd go for:

Almunia

Diarra
Toure
Senderos
Traore

Walcott
Flamini
Diaby
Rosicky

Adebayor
Dudu

Bench:

Cesc
Hleb
Van persie
Clichy
Lehmann

The way I see it make a few changes only tactically Diaby was no good on the wing! bring in Thomas Rosicky and maybe give Eduardo a burst!

Man USA are playing the chavs one of them(or both) will be dropping points other the weekend lets go for a convincing win 3-0 maybe?

Derby have bought well for the championship but we mustn't get overconfident, if Bywater plays well then they have a few players who could cause trouble. My line up, fitness permitting would be

Jens
Hoyte-Gallas-Senderos-Clichy
Eboue-Gilberto-Diaby-Walcott
Ade-Dudu

Bench: Almunia, Flamini, Cesc, Mozart, Van Persie.

Sanga is playing through pain so want him rested, Toure/Hleb/Cesc may be exhausted and want Dudu to get a run out

I don't think it's necessary to rest players, especially seeing as we've got a Carling Cup game coming up and we all know players will be rested then. I think it's important to send a message out to the rest of the league. I'd like so see a nice comfortable win, but no doubt Derby's goalkeeper will play a blinder!

sorry but im of the school of thought that u pick your best 11 always,, this resting platers is a load of shite,, look at liverpool on sat, lucky 2 get away with a point, gerard and torres on the bench,,
dont you know we,l rest some and with 20min 2 go hav 2 throw on our big players because bywater has had a blinder and we had no vision 2 break them down :x

There is a difference between resting players and a Full on Benitez tinker every week

I think Cesc definaetly needs a a rest, you could see he was a little burnt out at the end of the season and we don't want that for the title run in, with all due respect to Derby I think we can get away with having him on the bench.

Dudu and Theo both need games and for what we spent on them should be good enough players that putting them in shouldn't weaken then team significantly if at all.

Don't think we acn play theo on the left will have to be Rosicky out there.

Hleb has run his arse off this season so I think he deserves a little break and it will be interesting to see Diaby play in the centre rather than the left

Agree that Sagna should rest his injury before it gets serious, also would give the chance to let Hoyte really show he wants to fight for his place and if he is ever going to eb good enoguh for a start

Think Eduardo should start the game. But hope not we rest to many players. Would not like to lose two points in this match.

put 4 or 5 past them before even considering resting players.....this is the sort of game we often seem to cock up.
Full strenght side please, do the business, then think about resting in last 15-20 mins. Winning is a great habit to get into, lets not break the habit by being complacent
