So DD, why do the world's 2nd richest club need foreign cash

Unless he was knowledge that most of the club's assets are invested with Northern Rock?

Yeah I'd have to say your mostley right there, apart from that you say 'Bargin Buys' as if its a Bad thing!
Most of this is down to AW's morals, as he thinks that no player is worth more than 20Mill, so he looks for the overlooked, underrated, undiscovered stars.
I'd take Kolo Toure for 500k over a 30Mill Rio Ferdinand anyday. And dont even get me started on the purchase of Cesc, What a player. Who else would you rather had, even if you had 50mill to spend?

kolo yes cesc yes,, great players and not 2 much money spent,,
my point on the( bargin buys ) was if we hav so much money 2 spend then why not buy big players every now and again when we need 2 , in fairness 2 wenger he has a great eye for talent but at the end of the day its titles we want and need and in the last couple of seasons we havnt even put up a fight, i want this club,my club 2 be sucessful on and off the pitch but its on the pitch thats more important 2 me as a fan and supporter

yeah, would be nice to just think 'kaka could be useful' .. and kaboom, kaka is being shown to the press .. just like that ... :D :D :D

then we will be invisible year after year .. and seasons where we win just 1 or 2 trophies will be considered terrible seasons ... :P :P :P :P

but we dont need tainted money to help with that ... mind u

Rebel, you have my total respect as I feel just as you do!

I love our players but why not treat us to the odd Kaka now and again

Remember Rebs the figures quoted are annual turnover, not profit - big, big difference, particularly in light of our well publicised debts, I also reckon that any other club in the world would love to be in our position (and I don't just mean top of the league  ) because we have a massive asset to show for our debt which will soon be cut in half on completion of Highbury Square, whereas the way they are conducting their financial affairs, goes against every long-standing rule and business principle there is and therefore is simply not sustainable, as they too have run up massive debts but contrarily, the extremely unhealthy type!
Instead of cutting into their debts the other top clubs are using 80 or 90% of their profits in keeping their superstars happy and most of their stadiums are dated, especially OT which will soon be made to look prehistoric by their fiercest rivals and the "giants" of Pompey so the money they are spending now in expanding will prove redundant as they will eventually have to build a new stadium to maintain their status, which will only be realistic if they are bought over by some serious players from the far east, cos even a bona fide billionaire can't save them now!
I've said in previous posts, and it was confirmed on Thur nite that this season is the one that AW is lookin to as a passing out parade for his youngsters, to see what exactly he has on his hands and who is going to make it so that we have a excellent base to make sure any high class signing will be the final piece in the jigsaw!
Now I hate repeating what we all know, but the list of world class players who we have positively rejoiced at having at our club is endless, yet practically without exception none of them had a reputation anywhere near that of Kaka's, not even DB10, nevermind TH14 or PV4!
Having said that I'd cream my trunks if Kaka was unveiled at TNHOF because not only is the thought of him linking up with Fab a mouthwatering prospect, but it's generally an exciting time for the club and the fans, gives them bragging rights but above all it'd be a huge endorsement for the club for one of the best players in the world to come to N7 when he can choose any club on the planet!

Spot on, Belfast Boy. I'd love it if we signed one or two big names every now and then, and I don't like how expensive this football thing has become, but as the figures make clear the club has guaranteed financial stability. Amongst other clubs, the next few years will probably see some Leeds-like failures, with financial chickens coming home to roost. Our financial clout means Arsenal are safe from that.

It also means the major shareholders can (if they want) tell that deeply dodgy looking Usmanov to piss off. Which they should.

2nd richest club in the world yes, but to be up there with the Madrid"s and AC Milan"s we need to win the big one-the Champions league on a regular basis.I agree with rebel. The day when Ronaldinho and Kaka are wearing a red and white shirt you know you have arrived as a european super club.

Would they fit in with the team? For me, no so I'll be happy buying young players who will become brilliant in their ranks. We don't need the money and we will be fine for years to come when the bubble bursts as we won't be millions in debt for the honour of being owned.

I don't understand what you mean about money being spent in the boardrom Rebel. None of Arsenal's Director's collect a wage or a bonus from the shares they own - all the money generated goes back in to Arsenal FC. David Dein, on the other hand, was collecting a very generous annual wage from the Club. If I have the wrong end of the stick then I apologise - perhaps you could explain?

i know the directors dont take a wage and thats a great thing as there shares rise and rise,, as far as i can remember wasnt dein an employee of the club as is peter kenyon, david gill etc,, about the money spent in the boardroom what was meant that its not been spent on the field of play,, 2 years we,v be so far behind the leaders that our title hopes hav been over in november,, i want this club, our club 2 be successful on the field of play but we are not getting the bigger player that we deserve and the players that will lead us on 2 greater things,,, i hope im wrong on all this but i dont want 2 see us slip back in to the pack chasing cl places,, we deserve 2 be up there every year going for the title not looking over our shoulders at who,s chasing us for 4th place
