Takeover talk
just seen the news, im personally very worried about any takeover, i dont think we need it and especially with all the recent takeover, i dont think it is good for the game or our club. i dont like the look of or motivations of usmanov, seems to be a thug and a bully, but im not sure what stan's ideas for the club are.

Although, with Usminov at the helm we may beat Jol and Big Sam into second and third place in the trophy for which club has the person with the largest head, he and his ethics are abhorrent. I can't think of a less likely figure to fit in with our tradition.
Dein has showed his true colours recently by bringing Usmanov to Arsenal and by trying to claim the credit for Wenger re-signing.
I would like to keep the status quo and see the profits kept within the club.
Would like to see AW spend some of it though.

I want DD back tho I would prefer it 2 be with kroenke than the russian. I keep hoping (silly i know) that the russian is just a decoy to get the board to open up to stan. I think most people(not all) that vote for the current board are doing so out of fear of the russian more than out of endorsement of hillwood, fizsman & co. To be honest I believe the current board are incapable of driving this club forward with or without money

So, lets hope this guy remains a speculator, and nothing more ... the only concern is: if he is a mere speculator, then while involve DD ?Papers in Russia say Usmanov will go to 25% for a blocking stake, and no further. Kirill Vishnepolsky, deputy director at Forbes Russia magazine, said he doubted that a successful market speculator such as Usmanov would want to assume full control of Arsenal.
"This is just too small a business for him. He'll sell it in half a year," he said of the stake.
I used to be for investment, but its beginning to seem to me like we dont need it .. we should still be able to afford the odd kaka or queresma from our earnings, so why bother .. as Mr Chin said, we only wish AW would spend some of it now and again ..
Erm... top of the league, less money spent than any of the other big teams, brand new stadium pushing us up to the 2nd richest club in the world leapfrogging ManUtd, playing superb football bith a young team that can only get better, and not having any owner/board members meddling with the team a la Abramovich... Id say Arsenal are in a SUPER position.augie wrote:To be honest I believe the current board are incapable of driving this club forward with or without money
We may or may not win the League this year - but if we win it in the next couple of years WITHOUT spending bucketloads like Chelsea, ManUtd, Liverpool, or Spurs (!) surely that is a far greater achievement than any of our rivals?

I THINK ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS HE SIGNED THE CONTRACT WAS HE KNEW DD WAS COMING BACK.ITS MADNESS TO THINK WENGER AND DEIN HAVEN"T TALKED ABOUT IT OVER THE LAST FEW MOMTHS.THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS FOR GOD SAKE
that was my point,,, wenger is far from been a stupid man as neither is dein,, there coming we better get used 2 itdonaldo wrote:Rebelrebel gooner wrote:do you not think wenger signed a contract without knowing his best friend dein was about 2 come back,,, come on guys wake up, there best friends and you can be sure wenger tells dein whats happening and also the other way round

Just because they are `best friends`, it doesnt mean that they agree on everything.rebel gooner wrote:do you not think wenger signed a contract without knowing his best friend dein was about 2 come back,,, come on guys wake up, there best friends and you can be sure wenger tells dein whats happening and also the other way round
DD was opposed to the new stadium, Wenger was all for it. Wenger insists owners should be English, yet DD is in alliance with a Russian crook.
BTW, my `best friend` is a ManUtd season ticket holder.
DD should fuck right off, he's put the future of the club in danger. Despite all he did in the past, if he never comes to another Arsenal game, I wouldn't be upset. There's no excuse for getting in to bed with someone like Usmanov. And it doesn't stop there: for example, remember, DD would have put us at Wembley rather than Ashburton - based on our Champs' League experiences there, doing that would have been shit. The board made the right decision and kept us in the Highbury area.augie wrote:I want DD back tho I would prefer it 2 be with kroenke than the russian. I have no problem with foreign ownership (and thought Hill-Wood's little England remarks about Kroenke were ridiculous) but I don't think the club with the second biggest income in the world, as well as a stable of superb young talent and one of the most talented managers around, needs more money, at least not with football economics the way they are now. Like others, if it were a choice between Usmanov and Kroenke, I could live with the Yank but definitely not Usmanov. I'd be pleased if Wenger came out and said he would go if Usmanov became owner - that should see off the grubby Usmanov/DD attempt to buy the club.
