NO EXCUSE FOR LEAVING EARLY

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

One thing I've always been happy about Arsenal fans is that we are fickle. We aren't a bunch of brainless northen monkeys who roll-up and sing and chant even though what's being served up on the pitch is utter shite.

The Eboue incident earlier in the season amused me. The football media getting its knickers in a twist because those 'orrible Gooners are getting nasty to one of their own. Well Fuck the Fuck off. We've always done that to players who weren't up to standard.

Slavish devotion without engaging the brain will lead us down the path of Newcastle or worse Leeds.

I left after the 3rd manc goal (an absolute cracker by the way) becasue I wanted my empty seat to send a message to the club, management, players and media. That message being:

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

I have dim and vague memories, of a team who used to score goals on the counterattack, like the Mancs third. I wonder what ever happened to them.

My boys asked if we could go with about 20 mins to go, but I refused. Staying until the end showed loyalty to Arsenal and is also good character building stuff.....as I said to them, experiencing the pain will increase the enjoyment when we do finally win another trophy.

We also then stayed and, along with a sizeable minority of gooners, applauded United off the pitch!

We were still home by 11.15pm.

Chippy wrote:N7 you are getting really boring on this. You are right, you are the only true supporter on here, all the rest of us are just JCLs and plastic fans, even if we have been going to games for 40 years. My admiration for you being the one and only true gooner knows no bounds and I will be starting a cult in your honour soon. :bowing21: :bowing21: :bowing21:

For the record I left with about 8 mins to go, just after the useless free kick that almost led to a freak Cesc goal. I stood for the entire game and sang throughout. Chippy Junior needed to go to school today and there didn't seem to be much point prolonging the agony and then getting home at 1 in the morning.

But of course you are right, I am having a ceremonial burning of my cards after the Stoke game as I am obviously not worthy of being in the same stadium as you.
When did I say im the only true gooner? :? I felt strongly at someone who said they would leave again at half time if we went 2 down aginst Chelsea. Is that wrong or should I praise him?

And when did I say you should never return and burn your card all I said was that someone who wants arsenal to move outside london to the M25 and would leave if the team goes 2 down is the sort of fan I dislike.

FUCKING DISGRACE THOSE WHO LEFT AT HALF TIME AND WITH 30 TO.

I HOPE YOUR ALL ASHAMED.

YOU SUPPORT YOUR TEAM TILL THE END.

IT WAS THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FOR FUCK SAKE!!!!!

IT WAS THE SAME PEOPLE WHO STOPPED SINGING AT 1 NIL THAT LEFT EARLY.

I WAS IN BLOCK 99. AND IT WAS THOSE WHO STAYED TILL THE END THAT SUNG THE WHOLE GAME. THOSE THAT SHOW OUR TEAM SUPPORT EVEN DURING THE BAD TIMES.

FRANKY SUMED IT UP FOR ME

I thought overall our support during the game was brilliant as it has been at Grove, (I could be wrong) apart from everyone fucking off at half time... but everyone left kept singing...

This is the first post why did you not disagree with this?

JUST A QUICK QUESTIONS FOR THOSE THAT VOTED WITH THEIR FEET.

WILL YOU BE ATTENDING THE REMAINING GAMES?

IF SO WHY?

n7: what I actually said was "If we are as poor against Chelski on Sunday, I doubt I will still be there at HT!", and I stand by that.

As regards to the location of the new ground, it would have been much more convenient for the majority of Arsenal supporters (a significant majority of whom live outside the M25. FACT.) if it had been located, US-style, on the M25. (athough it might have been impossible to get planning permission granted). If you have been to any of the modern US sports stadiums you would recognise the truth in this. 60,000-seat stadiums do not belong in overcrowded and dilapidated city centres.

I support Arsenal Football Club, and I have no loyalty or love for the crappy and inconvenient corner of North London, where the club has the misfortune to be located.

Of course; I will be flamed from all sides for expressing these views, but don't worry, I will be renewing my two season tickets in the upper tier on the halfway line in a couple of weeks, just to annoy everyone! ;-)

I will be turning up on Sunday, in the hope that the team does as well!

Last season's game against Chelsea with Gallas scoring the winner was lots of fun.

If we see another spineless performance, I will be back in the Coronet by 4.30pm.
