As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
IMO Arsenal should have been forced as part of the planning consent to contribute to the cost of upgrading the local transport infrastructure.
I remember reading in an early draft of the plans for the new ground that the club were going to have to fund the upgrade of Holloway Rd tube station, to install escalators etc. I have no idea how this slipped out of the plans, but it should not have been allowed to do so.
It also seems absurd to me that Drayton Park Station is in the shadow of the ground, but is closed on match days because of insufficient infrastructure.
Additionally, a 3rd bridge across the railway lines, in between the existing 2 would make a big difference to helping people get away from the ground after the match.
I think the deal with doing up the local stations still stands, there is a disagreement with the cost. Planning was agreed at a certain amount and then tfl asked for a lot more and Arsenal , to our detriment but rightly so, said get fcuked.
Correct. Arsenal stumped up the cash as required. TFL have taken the money and subsquency asked for milllions more for the upgrade.
TFL to date haven't done anything with the money to upgrade Holloway Road Tube.
since the club don't ever listen to the fans it is one of the only ways to make peoples frustrations known
Spot on!
I f I was there last night I would be tempted to leave after second goal...just imagine those "lucky" fu**ers who had to pay £300+ to watch that pile of shite...

What is the point of doing holloway station when any train going southbound would be packed already with people from both finsbury park and arsenal?
I do agree Drayton park should be open as it is so close to the ground and is a over ground service rather then a underground train.
So have Holloway Rd for those going north and Arsenal for those going south, seems sinsible to me!
it was embarrasing. how were there so many fake fans there? im a die hard gooner and i only got a ticket out of luck the night before the game after non stop searching for 2 weeks. i know that many true gooners missed out though who would have given anything to be there. i was chatting to somebody there who didnt even know we reached the final in 2006. 80% of the fans stopped singing when we went 1-0 down. we had to keep the faith, even at 2-0 down it was possible! the fans lost the faith and so did the players. i didnt hear any booing at the final whistle though which shows the type of fans which left early! the last half hour was torture but being a supporter means backing the team through thick and thin.

maybe they were only 2 years old?
nah seriously, please tell me that was a joke
when i told him it was eboue, senderos, toure and flamini in defence which got us there and their cleansheet record he really did think i was takin the piss!
It was the same vs Milan last season. Was standing next to two muppets who'd never been to a game before and thought they were going to die because they were near the away fans. They got the tickets for free from a friend of a friend who worked in a nearby school. That is the sort of fan we attract now

Fuck me , it is like Top Trumps in here today!
Thank you.
and btw digger you're one of the best posters on here but your comment about me and RaM is just fucking stupid.
Why? What gives you the right to criticise people who spent their money on tickets and decided to leave because watching the rest of the game was a pointless exercise. I'm dead against people who leave 10 mins early to catch a more convenient train, but this is different.
If I went to a cinema to watch a blockbuster and it turned out to be a load of over-hyped shit, I'd leave.
If I went to the theatre to watch some top actor's production, but it was awful, I'd leave.
Someone said they left early to make a point to the players, club, management, media etc that it was not a good enough performance.
Because I think they're cowards for leaving, thats exactly what I think about the fans that left early. It makes the fans seem like children who did not get the toy they wanted at the store.
It's their fault for spending their money and going to the game and it is their decision if they want to leave early and thats what makes me mad. Why even bother going.

If watching the rest of the game was such a pointless exercise why were a lot of these fuckers sitting next to me in a pub on Holloway Road watching it there?

It's obvious. They needed a drink. After what happened on the pitch, you can't blame them for that, can you?

Riducularse comparison, how do you support a film?
I can understand people leaving out of anger, sheer frustration and disappointment when the third goal went in, but not those that went after the second goal, with 80 minutes still to play - that's just ridiculous in my opinion.
The two guys next to me left at half-time. But then again, they always arrive late, always leave early and seem mainly to care whether or not their correct score prediction comes in!!
Much as it hurt, I stayed until the final whistle and - shocking as this may seem to some of you - even clapped the mancs off the pitch for their performance. Indeed, Rio spotted me and even clapped me back!! (probably thought I was a manc )
I really do understand that sometimes protest is the only way to get the attention of the powers that be and to let them know that you're not happy and want things done differently. But to leave after 10 minutes?
