Andrey Arshavin for saving a season and potentially the club given the disastrous consequences of a non- top four finish (and don't believe the shit the club sprout about being able to cope for at least one season).

Thanks AA - you turned a truly fucking awful season into one that was slightly more bearable.

He has assisted or scored 1 in every 2 goals since he started playing

Almunia has been our most consistent player but he won't win it of course. The fact there are so few candidates for this award tells me everything I need to know about our season.

I see one or 2 have gone for Song, are you mad??

out of the list v. persie, he gave everything until the injuries crept back recently. his goals against chelsea were a lot more difficult than the 4 arsh scored against a one man livpool defence.

toure should be in there aswell, he tries, and after sitting in that ground on tuesday, not many others did

Perhaps a "Most improved player of the season" would be more appropriate?

I thought that after losing the Captaincy that Gallas would sulk and play crap for the rest of the season, instead he was our most consistent and best performer :barscarf:

And the first 10 games  ....

Sad but gotta be Arshavin, only truely influential player all season sadly.

Stoke City's Glenn Whelan.

If he doesn't score that equaliser then Villa go eight points clear at a time when we were fucking dire and we end up in the Europa League.

OK Arshavin would probably still have been bought, been top quality and we probably would have recovered but I don't think Villa would have collapsed like they went on to do.

So on final day I for one will raise a beer for Mr Whelan.

Oh and for an Arsenal player, Sagna. His crossing is piss poor but I can't think of a bad period he has had (like Clichy, Gallas eg), he has had good fitness and consistency and that goalline clearance at Villa Park was an outstanding moment in a fairly poor season.

For me also AA23, transformed our season when we were in 5th, and coupled with Villa's capitulation is the reason why were're safe in 4th now.

A mention for Gallas also, tremendous after the captaincy was taken off him, which he shouldn't have got in the first place.

I think there are only 3 players on the shortlist for player of the season.
They would be as follows:

1st (player of the season): AA he has been brilliant since we signed him in Jan. He got himself fit very quickly and he is the type of player who can make anything happen which he has proved him some of his assists and goals in the short time he has been here.
2nd: Manuel is proving to his critics that he is good enough to be arsenal's no. 1. We all knew his shot stopping was good and think he's judgement is now improving too.
3rd: Gallas, good attitude since being stripped him of the arm band and prior to his injury he was solid at the back.

Other than that Nasri has had a good season and RVP was great for a couple of months.
Song most improved player by a country mile.
