The hatred of Gallas!!

Post by PI7ES »

Now dont get me wrong, what gallas did whilst being captain was wrong and a captain shouldnt act in the media the way he did.

However i cannot understand the hatred of him on this forum, he is by far our best defender. The guy is a winner and hates losing, thats a good thing. He should never of been made captain in the first place, he doesnt have the qualities of a captain. He was given the job by wenger, he didnt choose it himself.

How some of you want to sell gallas and keep the headless chicken that is kolo toure? Toure is not a natural defender, he is oftern out of posistion and in the past it was his pace that got him out of trouble much like clichy. However he is losing his pace. He was beat many times by drogba yesterday, ronaldo tuesday.

It is no coincidence that since gallas has been injured our season has gone the way it has. Kolo cannot lead the defense, he cannot play offside, he doesnt win headers. Gallas is far superior defender.

Next season when should by a tall commanding center half and pair him with gallas!!

Reading the players to let go in the summer, a lot of people on here seem to want him out whilst keeping avaerage other defenders we have.

I dont think anyone hates him as such but the way he has carried on in his career has led to a lack of respect for him at times. Even before he joined us he is shown a willingness to look for trouble and since he joined us some of his conduct has been disgraceful and his performances patchy at times. One of the expections that every fan has for their players is a 100% commitment to the cause and personally I have never felt that he has given off that aura. Yes he is a good defender and a more natural defender than kolo but fans know when they look at kolo that he will bust a gut for this team and club and rightly or wrongly they will support him over gallas for that reason

I think we will have to sell one of either Kolo or Gallas.

It would be nice to keep Kolo for sentimental reasons, but Gallas is the better player.

Considering the displays of pique he showed last season, and early on this season, I think IMO, he has won alot of doubters around with his on field performances since losing the captaincy.

Let's face it, he shouldn't have got the captaincy in the first place, and this was yet another questionable decision by AW.

I don't hate him :?

Should never have been the captain, but one of our better performers - one of the few who gives 100% most weeks.

I would suggest all the comments above are exactly what a club should be looking for in a captain. I mean, the comments above I would argue sum up well our greatest ever Captain, Tony Adams

I'm slightly confused by this backing of Gallas when in the same paragraph you are saying this

For me I lost any respect I had for Gallas after his mid season outburst. He would have come out with his comments captain or not and as such he is a liability. It will take a lot more than his form in the second half of the season to sway me back as I believe he has played this way to earn a move away from the club. I don't believe he buckled down and played well for the good of Arsenal, because he loves the club.

If he comes out in the summer and says, "I'm staying, deal me in for 3 more years Arsene" I'll eat the placenta my Wife will be delivering in October.

Leading the defense and leadiing the whole team is a huge difference. Gallas is one of the best CB's in the premiership and can naturaly lead the back four with his talent and experience.

Surely you would want the best player playing not the player who loves arsenal the most. Because im sure emmanuel eboue loves arsenal probably much more than certian players do that get much more playing time than him??

If there is a choice between gallas and toure for one spot, it has to be gallas everytime!!

Since his outburst and the captaincy being stripped, I've been resigned to believing his time was up with Arsenal, with it likely he will be on his way this summer. The cynic in me would put this as the reason for his good form in the latter stages of the season prior to his injury. True though, we have desperately missed his presence as of late, he could well have made a difference in key games that we blew so spectactularly. I have no hate for him, but I feel we've seen the last of Gallas in an arsenal shirt. Time for an experienced replacement in the heart of defence Mr Wenger :(

I like Gallas.

He's a top class central defender, and alongside a Terry, Vidic or Ferdinand, the guy would be immense!

However, his partnership with Kolo is flawed, and earlier in the season (when Djourou was on form) Wenger admitted that Toure/Gallas wasn't ideal.

I don't hold a grudge, and although I admit I was pleased Gallas was stripped of the captaincy at the time, I have to say he has suprised me since.... I expected him to sulk and only half try, but instead he's got his head down, focused and has been outstanding.

Sadly, I think he might be off to Italy in the summer, but I hope I'm wrong... defenders of his quality don't grow on trees, and the biggest mistake made by Wenger was not providing Gallas with a proper partner - and he's suffered for it.

Hopefully, Gallas will stay and Wenger finally finds a central defender of real quality to play with him - as well as signing a holding midfielder to protect them, of course!

In an ideal world yes.

But fuck if I'm having Gallas playing week in week out just so he can demand a move in the summer or even let his contract down next year.

Fuck having the best players playing just so they can put themsleves in the shop window and move on in one or two seasons.

This would be counter productive as for the short term it may achieve the Semi-Finals and guaranteed 4th but it also leaves us with a revolving door playing staff and little hope of having a balanced squad for a sustained period of time.

My favorite Arsenal player and by no means the best player is Ray Parlour. Give me eleven of him in the side bursting their hearts out over any of the modern day mercenaries.

Either that or the management need to man up and when a player starts talking up a move tell him he's going fucking no-where.

I dont hate Gallas.

As has been said, he held his head up high and came back when stripped of the captaincy.

Why do we hate him?

This has been a problem for years at arsenal, wenger's policy of letting players go if they want to.

They signed a long contract fucking make them honour it, and its bullshit saying they wont try as hard. Look at ronaldo at yanited, they stopped him moving to madrid and he still performs week in week out.

Arsenal have a feeder club mentality, buy them young and cheap sell them older and for a profit. For us to ever be a massive club this has to change.

The signing of arshavin shows signs of this as we wont get a profit on him but this has to continue!!!
