Another Bendtner thread

Post by rigsby »

Just thinking after the game, that I'm pretty sure Bendtner has 16 goals in all competitions this season. This means he has more goals than Carlos Tevez, Dimitar Berbatov, Dirk Kuyt and quite a few others. Considering 2 of those r worth in excess of 30 million, don't you think the lad deserves some credit?

I know people are still divided on him, but I have to say that recently he seems to have become more and more determined to prove himself. He actually livened us up today when he came on, and could have had another goal straight after his first.

I think he often gets a lot of criticism due to his perceived 'ego' (who doesn't have one) and his sometimes wayward finishing, however the lads getting in the right places and offers us a lot more all round than most of our other strikers. I'm not saying you should like him all of a sudden, but I do have a problem with the crowd straight away getting on his back the moment he does something wrong.

Bendtner is seriously pushing for a starting place next season, I mean he's the only player in our squad bar Eduardo that can actually get his head on things.

I think he's developed great in the second half of the season.

His work ethic is unrivalled in the team and he creates plenty of space for the others by actually running at defenders.

His finishing will improve - and like you say, despite some poor finishing he's scored 16 goals this season.

I think he can add at least 5 on top of that next year and score over 20.

It's quite a turnaround for him. Despite lacking some skill, he has looked like he's really trying recently, and I think the fans have responded. He got a great reception during Pompey away.

In a nutshell - I'm not sure whether he is or ever will be good enough to play in the first team regularly, but at least he appears to be trying, not lamely going through the motions like a bored person.

I fully agree that Nic has developed, however i still worry that, today apart, he doesn't frighten defences the way that Greedy does.
That said if we could get rid of the lazy *word censored* (Greedy) for £15-20 mill then i would say give the lad a chance next year. Just think Nic and Eddy up front with Arshy and Walcott on the wings.

Christ, i'm pooping myself now for the opposition.
If only we can get a couple of centre halfs and a decent defensive midfielder, maybe Alex will step up to the plate.

Come on you depressed Gooners it could be worse we could be Spuds fans, in fact i nearly was. Family pressures but i prevailed, thank you lord.

I rate him as a great impact sub but we as a club looking to go places next season (I hope) couldn't rely on him to get us the goals we need.

Does anyone remember the Niall Quinn disco pants chant :?: could we have our own version for Nic

Bendtner tons of effort but lacks quality.Has the first touch of an elephant.Ask yourself this question would he get in any of the top 3 sides?
Good enough for West Ham but not Arsenal

Nicklas Bendtner has proved an awful lot of people wrong on here, it wasnt that long ago that half the threads on here were having a go at him, i said long ago even through the 'bad' spell he had that he was a bloody good player, and he clearly is!

The lad can do everything, and still so young, he will become one of our top forwards in the near future and if i was the manager i would be lining him up to be our main forward next season

over the last couple of months every time he has played he has been really good, and a lot of the time he has been asked to play out wide or up front on his own, both hard tasks which he has done very well

in my opinion was the best player yesterday even in the short time he was on the pitch, he really makes things happen when he comes on, and 16 goals from our supposed 4th choice forward isnt a bad return is it?

Fans were wrong to judge him earlier in the season. He was playing as a lone striker with hardly any PL experience. His best position at the moment is as a sub for 'plan B', it takes a few years to be good enough to start PL games from the start as a striker.

At least he shows good movement and trys his hardest when playing mostly out of position on the wing

Although bendtner hasnt being a favourite of mine at least hes trying unlike others and you know who i am talking about. When he came on yesterday he gave it a right go when he scored the goal he ran straight into the net to retrieve the ball to restart the game only a small point but i didnt see anybody else from the team making an effort it was like they had given up.As some one else mentioned he has 16 goals as 3rd or 4th choice striker which doesnt seem to be a bad thing.Maybe not a starter but as an impact sub maybe.
