Another Bendtner thread

Taking him over ade is hardly a glowing recommendation, it merely shows what an awful state the squad is in. If nic is a first choice next season then we really will struggle.

his 2nd half season performences has changed my view on him. its evident that he wants to play for the club and cares about the results

hopefully he'll work on his finishing and he could be a very good player

It is when Adebayor is supposed to be the world class striker and Bendtner has spent most of the season being satan's child.

He's done well recently, it won't kill you to say it.

When he plays up as target man,he generally holds the ball up well,on the odd occasion we get a decent ball into the box he is a quite a good header of the ball(United away not included),he wasnt helped by the fact he was stuck on the wings for a run of games, but thats down to AW playing him out of position, still has long way to go until he is good enough to warrant a full time starting place i see him more as an impact sub.

bendtner is a very frustrating player, he has pretty much everthing in his locker, fast, strong good in the air he can shoot and does have a decent first touch, but for someone supposably so cocky, he doesnt always belive he can score - seems like when his head is right he can play well, but when its not he turns into a donkey.

i think sitting on the bench he must get his head in the right place and come on looking like some who belives in himself, he needs to have that same atitude for the whole game

I think he suffers from the team he plays in as well. We have no crosser of the ball, thus his main game i.e. heading, is severely under utilised. Imagine if we had someone like Beckham swinging them in, he'ld be unplayable.

that is true, arshavin may help him next season clichy and walcott cant cross for shit.

its funny that our main strikers dont really suit the way we play at all, we play european style quick passing game and then put target men up front?

I think he def deserves another season as he is still young and has most of you have pointed out he is working hard to push for a starting place.

He's main asset is that he is very good in the air and i wish he would take advantage of this more often by STAYING in the box instead of going out wide left to pick up the ball like TH14 used to do and like Ade tries to do as he is wasted when he goes out wide because he aint the type of player to beat a man, he is better in the box to get his head on it and to cause problems for the centre halfs. I know he has to do this sometimes like when he is upfront with ade but there is no need to do it when he is the only striker or when playing upfront with AA, RVP, Eduardo or Vela as all these players are better on the ball then him.

Good thread BTW and i think Nic deserves the credit especially because so many fans lay in to him the minute he walks on to the pitch.

Easily the best player on the pitch at West Brom and has improved considerably over the season. Nice to hear some cheers now when he's called upon. Strangely enough, most people respond to enthusiastic support and don't respond to destructive heckling. Perhaps a few more Arsenal fans might like to try this novel approach - he might get even better.

So Bendtner should be our first choice striker now because he tries more than Greedywhore??!!

Bendtner is a trier, I'll give you that - but not much more. He has a terrible first touch and his finishing is awful. He misses too many chances. A striker might only get 2 or 3 chances a game. I've seen NB get 4 or 5 and miss them all. A top striker will put one of those chances away on a regular basis.

He is a good "impact" sub in that he will run at defenders with tired legs and is not afraid to put his head to the ball. He is youngish and may develop to a higher level, but there is no guarantee of that. He is a long long way from being a first choice striker, if ever...

Even though I absolutely don't rate him as a striker I commend him on his effort, particularly against the manure filth and the chavs, when so many of his team mates decided to do fuck all for their £80K a week. :banghead:
