AFTER READING THIS MONTHS GOONER AND THE FAV GAME SECTION,,
HERES MINE

MY FAVORITE GAME WAS MY FIRST TRIP 2 THOF IN AUGUST 1980 V SOUTHAMTON,
WE WERE IN LONDON ON OUR HOLS WHEN MY DAD BROUGHT ME UP TO HIGHBURY FOR THE FIRST TIME ( I WAS 12 ) WE SAW THE GATES WERE OPENED SO STROLLED IN FOR A LOOK ONLY TO BE STOPPED BY THE GROUNDSMAN AND TOLD WE WERE NOT TO BE THERE AS THE FIRST TEAM WAS TRAINING, TOLD HIM IT WAS THE LAST DAY OF OUR HOLS AND SINCE HE WAS ALSO IRISH HE LET US STAY, I SAT IN TERRY NEILS SEAT AND WATCHED THE WHOLE MORNINGS TRAINING, AFTER I GOT ALL THE PLAYERS AUTOGRAPHS AND SPOKE TO THEM,, NEXT NIGHT WE GOT SEATS IN THE EAST STAND FOR MY FIRST GAME,, CHARLIE GEORGE WAS PLAYING FOR SOTON THAT NIGHT AND I REMEMBER THE STANDING OVATION HE GOT,,HE WAS LAST PLAYER OUT AND WAVED AT ALL FOUR PARTS OF HIGHBURY ,HAD 2 ASK MY DAD WHO HE WAS

SPENT THE NIGHT LOOKING AT THE NORTH BANK AND WISHED I WAS IN THERE,, TOOK ME 6 MORE YEARS FOR THAT TO HAPPEN,, MATCH WAS 1-1 AND FOLLOWING SATURDAY I SAW MY FIRST AWAY MATCH IN A 3-1 LOSE TO COVENTRY,, GREAT WEEKEND THOU,, ARSENAL MEANS SO MUCH TO ME AND IM ALWAYS PROUD TO CALL MYSELF A

My favourite game would have to be our last home match of the 1997/98 season against Everton, when Tony Adams scored right at the end to clinch a 4-0 win and the title. My Dad and I had tickets for the away section and as we entered the stadium a steward spotted that we had Arsenal shirts on underneath our jackets. He warned us that we must cover up and that if we cheered we would be thrown out of the ground. Well six minutes into the match and Evertons Slaven Bilic headed into his own net, the ground erupted into cheer, we erupted into cheer in fact all around us were celebrating that goal. There were more Gooners in the away end than Everton fans and the Everton fans that were there were glad to see us take the title away from the Mancs. Needless to say the steward could not eject all of us from the ground and we were left to enjoy the rest of the match as if we were in the home section.

My first ever match was a chilly February night in 1980, home to Aston Villa. My memories of the actual match are now vague but the atmosphere that night sticks in my mind. We ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Sunderland (2) and Stapleton.
After that night I was hooked but had to wait a while until my next game.

It's really difficult for me to pick actually...seing as I've never been to a match and television matches are sometimes indescernible...little atmosphere that time in the morning you see...

Live match: Sydney FC vs Urawa Reds in the Asian Champions League. Great atmosphere I sat near the fanatic Japanese supporters brilliant i really enjoyed that one even though it was a 2-2 draw.

By Correspondence: Ok, set the scene: 2006. Arsenal v Real Madrid, i read anything I can about it for months and Arsenal are given little chance. Then, two weeks before, on the morning I was meant to be late to school due to 'religious reasons' I find out that I have a stupid, pointless geography excursion to Dee Why/Collaroy beaches. So, bus trip over to the coast and I get a text message from my dad, who is watching the game on his day off.

'Henry just beat 3 defenders and scored. Arsenal 1-0.'

I jump out of my seat in elation, cheering and shouting the score around the bus to any football fans (none of whom are Arsenal fans by the way, few Juventus ones though

).

Really took my mind off that excursion. Made the day bearable.

So, yeah. Thats about it. Pretty boring when you think about it, and also most likely my longest ever post on here when you think about that.

FA Cup replay Leeds (A) '93
we drew the first game 2-2 (Merse screamer)

the replay was a rollercoaster - we went 1-0 up bang on halftime through smudger
shutt equalised then mcallister scored a screamer for the defending champs
wrighty then equalised and got the winner in extra time
(Lukic got a hand to his shot and I swear it hung in the air for about 10 minutes before dropping into the net)

Leeds fans tried to knock our coach over on the way out
great days

Dortmund vs Shalke May 07
ended 2-0 to Dortmund absolutley the best atmosphere ive experienced first time in germany aswell when the yellows scored I thought the ground was going to collapse.

Arsenal vs Spuds Carling Cup 3-1
first game at the emirates and it was absolute quality, good atmosphere and the looks on scum faces priceless."2-0 and you fucked it up"

One game that always sticks out in my mind was Ipswich away in the Â¼ final of the FA Cup back in 93. Met up at Blackhorse road station and drove up to Ipswich, boozing all the way up there, got to the pub by about 12.30 the Monkey Drum or Puzzle it was called just a stoneâ€™s throw from the away end.

Went 1 down but never stopped signing all afternoon, ran out 2-4 winnings (I think) and then went on to meet Spurs in the semi once more.

A great day out from start to finish.

Mine would be my very first game at highbury against newcastle in 93 i was only 9 and will never forget walking up the stairs to the north bank and seeing the pitch for the first time needless to say i was gobsmacked and will always be gratefull to my old man for that day,as they say 'i caught the bug' to make it even better we won 3.1 that day and saw my hero wrighty score which made it even more special.
