Is this at the expense of our wage bill?

I also agree, and could well be an aim of the overall plan, is to become regarded the world over as THE place to learn your trade as even tho Barca et al have great acadamies a player like for example Cesc would be extremely effective should he ever decide to go back to La Liga as he is a much more rounded player havin earned his spurs (sorry Cesc) over here!
As everyone knows we play a much more physical game over here and if you can play here you can play anywhere and have the prowess to dominate when you move to the less physically demanding league in the latter part of your career
