Reasons NOT to renew your season ticket (28/05)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If you want to give up your ticket that is fine by me. Although we have the most expensive season tickets in the premiership, they are not the most expensive on a match by match basis. We are the only fans that pay for a SEASON ticket. Most other fans pay for a league ticket. Some get one or two cup ties on their season ticket. So on reflection I will not be giving mine up as I feel that I have had my moneys worth over the last 28 years.

"What you need to realise is, most ST holders won't give their tickets up, they'll just let someone else use it for a year or two till Wenger goes. I know 5 people in my section who won't be going next year and who are letting someone else use their ticket, and I am one of them"

what you need to realise that any 'fan' who only supports his team during the good times doesn't deserve a season ticket now or ever.

It will be really interesting to see what you will do if Wenger turns it around next season. Pound to a piece of pig shit you'll be there rolling in reflected glory saying you always knew they could do it.

I sincerely hope that you stay away, silverware or not, while Wenger is at the helm - better still I sincerely hope you stay away. Unfortuantely there is not much chance of that is there?

Henry - good riddance is all I can say - maybe you should go down the lane next season and then you will really have something to moan about.

Unfortunately Arsenal are full of supporters like this nowadays, and I aint talking about the original poster dumping his season ticket.

If that's the way he feels so be it, he aint the only one, far from it.

The one's who cry 'fuck off and support Tottenham if you don't like it' are the ones who make the matchday experience a pain in the arse.

Heaven forbid people saying anything against Arsene Wenger FC.

If you can't see the differance between this period and other periods of mediocrity in our history then you need your head examining.

Mediocrity people can put up with, total bullshit they cannot.

All you pathetic posters that say "fuck off to sp*rs" should be ashamed of yourselves.

Whether or not you agree with the article the poster makes some decent points but on the other hand is over the top maybe, he has the right to say and think what he wants and do whatever he wants with his cash. The fact we are now a "project" Wengers words not mine pisses me off no end (what other top 4 club anywhere else would accept that?) but i wont stop going and supporting the club i love.

Good on the article if thats what the bloke believes

As articles go this one is certainly one of the the worst ever to appear on this web site. I can only imagine that Ed. put it online purely to elicit 'disgusted of Highbury' type replies.

I really am delighted that this fool has given up his season ticket. Sounds like he's just the sort of feckwit to leave 30 minutes before the end of a game if we are losing.

The article is so misguided it doesn't really warrant a reply and ideally such an unappreciative, misguided, inane, brain-dead, raving glory hunter won't bother to ever darken our doors again. At least that's what I hope. If there was a w@nker of the week award on this site then Harry Gregg's grand child would certainly piss it.

Yours 'Disgusted of Highbury'

You know what, there's the door. And can you, close it behind ya.

I wonder what this guy would say if this summer, Wenger went out and bought experienced quality in each crucial position and we actually went out and won something big.

That doesn't excuse his rant anyway though, pathetic.

Many Gooners like myself went season after season during the dark ages with minimal hope of a trophy. We saw yesterday in Rome that when Arsenal gave Manure the run around in the league game at OT it was no accident - we passed our way through their midfield, admitted without the killer blows from Barca. So United are fallible and there is real hope for us next season.

Nevertheless, it's a sobering thought that Lazybayor can earn my season ticket money too whilst watching another video. Maybe there is one he could watch on 'How to avoid being perpetually offside' (eg look where the opposing defenders are?) which might make it all worthwhile. Then again, it's probably too late.

I'm pro-Wenger and am happy on the basis of his record and the chance to watch fantastic football to give him another chance. However, whilst I admire his refusal to criticise his players I do think that AW talks a lot of nonsense after games and we do need to hear some proper reasons - not just "lacking a little sharpness" :banghead: - if and when the team doesn't play well.

turningaway - I've been here all through the 80's and 90's mate so I think I qualify on that one!

LMFAO......ok, I'll grant it's possible, with some very decent purchases in the summer but I do tend to believe that a leopard DOESN'T change his spots and if Wenger does go out and actually buy what we need in the summer I will be totally and utterly flabberghasted because he's shown no inclination to do it for 4 years, I wonder what makes you think he'll change now?

I can put up with losing, getting outclassed, paying over the odds and shit transport links but I won't put up with manager and board bullshit, players who don't give 100% and no progress. Unfortunately an abundance of the last three things I mentioned has led me to my ST decision.

My god. Now I know what it's like to be in a cult! I feel like a scientologist who has pointed out that Tom Cruise might be losing his grip a little. Clearly no-one is allowed to question the master. Some are so angry they've lost the ability to spell!

I didn't realise how many gooners have been brainwashed by Arsene's endless brook of babbling bullsh*t. How many more years of failure you giving him boys? He's already asking for two more. Three? Four? A decade? At what point do YOU draw the line and say enough is enough?

The season ticket renewal form has the quote - Arsene Wenger: "We have to keep the belief and the trophies will come naturally." So basically its OUR fault for not believing enough and its our belief that going to win trophies (rather than actually signing some decent players)!

You keep believing and we'll see if its enough at the end of the season....

Henry - if you read my post I have agreed with a lot of the points you made in your article (players getting paid too much; Arsene making some pretty dumb comments; our Board being out of touch etc.) but we have no more right to silverware than any other club.

Arsene has made a few mistakes this season (weak at centre half, lack of a quality defensive midfielder, allowing players to leave whilst keeping some duffers) but is there anyone better equipped to keep us challenging the big spenders, at home and in Europe?

I hate many aspects of the modern game but walking away from our great club completely would be something you'd regret.

Reasons not to renew your season ticket.

Obviously your judgment has been clouded by a dis-appointing showing this season. But if you feel you must give up your ST then please do, it brings all of us on the waiting list one step closer. Most of us would beg borrow or steal (maybe not steal coz that's really naughty) to get our long awaited ST :barscarf:

Reading this thread I agree wholeheartedly with the point about waiting list numbers vs cup games's empty seats. One we were at we had some squally showers & due to a large section of empty seats below us, we all moved down near to the front into the dearer seats to get away from the water blowing thru the top gap. The stewards okayed it too.
Very fashionable to say you are on a waiting list it seems. Heavens forbid if the chance came to easily get in that would scare them off :banghead:
On the point about AW's post match comments, I appreciate his language fluency but dont you reckon that if he spoke in his native french & we got a translation then it would be easier for him to express his thoughts. There are some expressions & especially sporting cliches that I dont think you could translate properly- & AW always from day 1 made the point of doing it in english. It would still be great to sometimes hear him acknowledge our "crapness"- what is the french translation of this! :barscarf:

I,m surprised at the reaction to this article. Perhaps it,s a bit over the top suggesting we don't renew our season tickets but otherwise i found myself agreeing with what was written.
I too think that one of the biggest errors ever made at Arsenal was not replacing Flamini (or why not have given him a payrise to keep him? we gave that clown Adebayor more money). We have struggled in midfield all season with no player who can properly fit that roll.
Despite following Arsenal for forty years, I have the same feelings as the guy who wrote the article. It's weird to watch a match and NOT have any adrenalin or feelings of excitement. This team seemed to have drained any fun out of watching Arsenal at the moment. Nearly every match has a feeling of Deja Vu about it. And to most of us it was obvious that we were not going to win a trophy this year.
If the board or Wenger came out and said " We are going to struggle for transfer kitty for the next few years" we could put up with that. We'd all realise we have to stick with it in the tough times. But they keep saying there is money available and that's hard to take'
Added to that the fact we kept Adebayor when we could have got good money for him and a decent replacement.
We are in almost exactly the same position as we were in at the end of last season with players needed in the same positions. Even if we buy any players it will feel like a year too late. But are we going to buy any quality players? Surely we will this year!!!
