Wenger targets Palace raid
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has set his sights on Crystal Palace young star Nathaniel Clyne, according to reports.

Clyne is one of a number of youngsters who have come through the ranks at the club and Eagles boss Neil Warnock has already stated that top flight clubs are tracking his young stars at Selhurst Park.

The Crydon Advertiser claims that Wenger has targeted the 18-year-old full-back and suggest a fee of around £4m could be enough to persuade the Eagles to part company with the player.

Gunners agree Edge fee
Cheltenham have confirmed promising youngster Jamie Edge is set to join Arsenal after an undisclosed agreement was reached between the two clubs.

The 15-year-old midfielder, who has progressed through the Robins' youth system, has been on Arsenal's radar for some time and recently returned from an under-16 tournament in Italy where he represented the Gunners against some of Europe's elite.

And he now looks set to follow in the footsteps of a long list of young players who have progressed under the watchful eye of Arsene Wenger and the Premier League giants' development scheme.

Chairman Paul Baker told the club's official website: "Cheltenham Town have reached a financial agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of Jamie Edge.

"We believe it is an excellent deal for the club both in terms of the money we will receive this season and next and further payments that become due depending upon the progress Jamie makes at both club and international level.

"It is a particularly exciting opportunity for Jamie who now has to agree personal terms with Arsenal before the deal can be confirmed."

Arsenal & Liverpool consider €4m plus gamble on new Thierry Henry?
Sky Sports claim that Arsenal and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Feyenoord teenager Luc Castaignos, dubbed by some fairly or unfairly as the "new Thierry Henry".

"The interest is known and clubs are willing to go really far," his agent Arie Treffers told De Telegraf.

"We have sent everyone to Feyenoord. Luc and his parents prefer to stay at Feyenoord for now.

"An agreement where a big team would sign him and directly loan him out to Feyenoord could be an option."

Feyenoord are apparently looking for a fee slightly in excess of €4m for the 16-year-old.

Barry: I WANT TO BE A GUNNER
Gareth Barry is holding out for a summer move to Arsenal.

Aston Villa captain Barry is desperate to play Champions League football during the best years of his career – and the Gunners are his No.1 option.

Though Villa want him to see out the remaining year of his contract, Starsport understands he wants out now.

Barry believes he has been loyal to the club by staying for an extra season when he could have made an £18m switch to Liverpool last year. But after Martin O’Neill’s side failed to secure a top-four finish last year, the England star knows he is running out of time to test himself at the highest level.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is still an admirer, but is not keen on splashing out most of his transfer budget taking him to Anfield. That has left Manchester City and Tottenham hopeful of securing a deal – but it is Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who is considering a £12m bid for the 28-year-old.

Wenger is searching for a dominant midfield player to add to a squad which has plenty of talent but lacks genuine bite, and he has watched Barry several times in the past few months.

so this rumour all comes from the Daily Star, so theres a 95% chance that its rubbish, but i hope its true, could be a good signing, better than diaby, denilson and song. him and a centre back and id be happy

Arsenal are also interested in Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, according to Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh. "I am ready to play for a mid-table side first in order to show myself," he said, promisingly. "There is also something with Arsenal, but nothing concrete."

Boro face Johnson battle
Winger has big-four chasing him
Middlesbrough face a huge battle to hang onto Adam Johnson this summer, skysports.com understands.

Chelsea and Tottenham are understood to be leading the chase for Johnson, but Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal are all keeping close tabs on him, whilst Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are also monitoring his situation.

Johnson has just 12 months left on his current deal at The Riverside - and the Sunderland-born wide-man looks unlikely to put pen-to-paper on a fresh contract.

Johnson has told Boro he is keeping his options open, after he rejected their latest offer to renew his deal.

Now Johnson knows that he is being tracked by a host of clubs who are all ready to try and tempt newly-relegated Boro into selling.

Boro do no want to sell their prized assets, but their biggest summer fundraiser was due to be the sale of Stewart Downing, however that is now off until January at the earliest after he had a pin inserted into his broken foot.

And with just a year left on his current deal, Johnson will be free to join whoever he wants this time next year, although Boro will be due compensation.

However, compensation is nearly always well below market value and because of that Boro could be tempted to sell.

Johnson will take part in the European Under-21 Championship this summer, which you can see live on Sky Sports, and he will be keen to impress in Sweden.

Ex-Spurs boss to block Arsenal transfer deal?
Martin Jol's appointment as Ajax manager couldn't have come at a worse time for Arsenal.

Just as the Gunners get close to finalising a £7.5m deal to take Ajax centre back Thomas Vermaelen to the Emirates Stadium, the ex-Spurs boss arrives and puts a spanner in the works.

It's understood that Jol has spoken of his admiration of the 23-year-old Belgium international to his board of directors and consequently it looks likely that Vermaelen will stay put for one more year at least.
