thierry dont wanna play gunners

Post by stearmaster »

Having swapped North London for Camp Nou over the summer, Thierry Henry hopes he never has to face the prospect of playing against Arsenal with new club Barcelona.

The France international spent eight years at Arsenal, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups in the process, but decided to seek a new challenge in the shape of Barca.

Now the striker admits he would find it incredibly hard to play against a side that he still holds a deep affection for.

"I hope I never have to play against them," Henry told The Mirror. "Not because of fear or anything. But because it would be weird to play against Arsenal.

"I did it against Juventus and it was another feeling because I left Juventus because of the board - it was not about the team or anything. So I had anger in them when I played them.

"But when I will play Arsenal, I will not have any anger. It is going to be pretty emotional and pretty difficult. That is why I say I don't want to have to play against them.

“Also because they are a good team. What an impact they have made on the European scene by beating the double Uefa Cup champions.

"Playing eight years for a team and playing people who you know and who know you perfectly, it will be difficult. But if it has to happen, hopefully it can happen in the final [of the Champions League]."

Henry is also tipping Arsene Wenger’s new look side to win The Premier League, and if they do then the Frenchman can be guaranteed to be watching the celebrations from his television screen in Catalunya.

"I always, always look for their result,â€

Not an anti-TH14 backlash but I am afraid I have very little interest in what the guy has to say anymore!

Since he spouted the gem "My name is not on any departure boards" in June, then confessed he told Arsene he wanted to leave in May, I dont hold any value to what he says!

I have to agree with gus o this one. I didn't like the way he tried blaming everyone else for his departure. So it had nothing to do with him wanting to leave his wife and kid then

Great player but wish he would just shut the fuck up instead of bleating on about how much he loves the club.

I don't blame him not for wanting to play Arsenal
When Paddy came back to Highbury all the media was on him & he fucked up
Thierry i guess doesn't want the same thing to happen to him as he still loves the Arsenal & so did Paddy

TH14's needs of galacticos to play around him, instead of 'inexperienced kids' clashed with AW's style of bringing the kids thru' .. I believe thats probably why he left. Also, he was desparate to avoid turning arsenal fans against him, hence the lies to mask the fact that he really wanted to leave.

I reckon he really wanted to leave two years before he actually did, but could not find easy justifications for doing so. Subsequently, his performance dipped and you could clearly see that he was not very motivated or hungry. Thus I was happy to see him leave -- for his sake and for the good of arsenal. The lies are meaningless, and innocent becuase he was not slating the club .. unlike freddie. I defo cant begrudge him his need to leave after 8 wonderful years of service ..

I must say I am chuffed o hear him talk like this. The man is an arsenal legend thru and thru ... as wellas a life-long fan.

here is to TH14 .. one of the best players to have played for arsenal ...

I don't think many of us would want to tell the world "I'm thinking of leaving the country because my marriage is in tatters" so you can't blame him entirely! TH14 was a world class player and simply couldn't wait 2-3 more years for the team to mould and mature and by the time they did he would be too old to get in it! He was part of the older generation and it was time for the kids to come through, same as Gilberto, he's one generation older and is no longer getting in the side! (I'm sorry no-one needs that much rest)

He served the club well, helped us turn many a game, gave us hours of viewing pleasure and we still made 4 million when we sold him!

He's never said one bad word about the club and clearly did love it and his time here. I think he may even regret leaving now the team is playing to his standard. Yes he was arrogant to look down on the kids but get frustrated when they made a mistake, but hey he is French - its what they do! but it didn't stop me loving him!

I hope he doesn't play against us either cos he'll know to go straight for senderos lol but if we do I'll be happy to join in singing his name before kick off if everyone else will, after that for 90 minutes he'll be a nobody
