Fabregas
Why do gooners torture themselves- Fabregas is a Catalan- it is the dream of Catalans to play for Barca. But Fab knows he would not get into their first team this year. Next year might be different. Let him go when we are strong enough not now when we aren't. Another year is what he and we need. Another year of Rosicky, Diaby, Bemdtner, Van Persie, Gallas , Clichy-injury free. Yes we would be strengthened by a big centre back, a better goalie- like Green and a Barry like player in the midfield -I like him. Alonso won't sign for us- unless Fab knows something we don't. But I would trade all of these for David Villa- just one great striker- and our existing mob injury free. Our best 11 would be the best eleven-bar none.
i think in our hearts we know cesc will return home soon, yes we need 3-4 players to make our first 11 better but its a matter of will?
will wenger go out and get the players, everyone knows the areas we need to strengthen
will he stop been so stubborn
will he ditch the players we all know are not good enough for the arsenal
i wouldnt be holding out much hope if i was you gerry

oooo boy
Another champioship manager thread " if i sell him for big money then I can buy five great players etc etc etc.
Cesc is 22 and maturing at a rate of knots. he needs support in the midfield as he cant do it all himself. We dont need to sell him just becuase he says he admires barca. He's spanish and a catalan ffs.
We lose Cesc we lose everything that has been built inthe last few seasons and contrary to popular belief on this site I think that next season could be as decisive for Arsenal football club as the day when SAF won his first trophy with the likes of Scholes Becckam Giggs etc.
You just need to keep the faith and support your team..

The article states.......Flamini made Fabregas look good as he constantly won the ball and gave Cesc the space his needed to work his magic....
EXACTLY the reason we should have kept or replaced Flamini. Cesc has not had such a good season because he has had little or no support in midfield.
As regards next season
If we've got £13 million to spend, how about we sell Adebayor (I can't believe it but apparently he is worth £21 million) which gives us £34 million to spend.
Try and persuade Henry ( £10 million? ) and Flamini (£5 million?) to return. Then spend the rest on two centre halves....Taylor of Newcastle and Hangelaand of Fulham maybe?
Just wishful thinking really!!!!!!

I agree with the start of the above post, but not the rest about bringing back some of those old players.
Basically, my view of Fabregas is that he is an excellent talent and has huge potential. He is on the way to being a great player. but the problem with playing in a position like CMF is that you need a partner. Look at all of the great CMFs and they all have had a great partner: Vieira regarded as one of the best with us, and he had Petit alongside who helped make him look so good, Keane and Scholes, Gerard and Alonso, and obviously Xavi and Iniesta. I've only considered recent examples as they spring easiest to mind but I believe you need a pairing at centre half and centre mid and so it is wrong to underestimate Cesc for playing alongside crap. I don't think, therefore, that the question is would he get in the current Barca team (which I think he would not) because that does not prove that we don't need him - it just proves they are better than us, which I think we all know!
Wenger needs to buy, it's as simple as that. We don't need to lose our best players in the process (also consider the knock-on effect of him leaving)

I think the post has a very good point and shows that to get the best out of Cesc we need a strong defensive midfielder to partner him in the middle.ARSENAL have always had strong midfielders except this season gone and it showed!!If Cesc does leave or we sell him we have a ready made replacement in Nasri BUT we still need that Flamini type player to go with him.Until wenger see's or buys this type of player we still struggle in midfield, another point in the post is leadership which to honest i don't think any of our current player have any leadership qualities.
There have been games this season where we have struggle but no-one has took charge and tried to grab the game by the sruff of it's neck??.We never know how much wenger has got to spend but he must sell adecrapwhore but doesn't really need to replace use bendtner?but wenger must swallow his pride and buy 2/3 experienced players in defence and midfield.

My friend made the point that Fabregas is really a first of a kind for an Arsene Wenger Arsenal side. When he plays, he is the focal point of our attacking play whereas previously the strength and solidity has been in centre midfield and the focal point of the attacking threat has come from other areas (Bergkamp, and Pires moving inside to play much of the game behind the front two...these two among other players).
Don't know the best way to go now in general...I think that the players are just not as good quality and have as good character as those now sadly moved on...

keep the faith
no detail deaconstruction,
just a few names
1st. Aaron Ramsey
2nd (controversial I know) Alex Song
3rd Carlos vela
if we sort out the centre back pairing... jeesus we'd scare even me.
Flamini gave us 1 maybe 1 & a half good seasons.. Alex song has all the attributes for the holding midfielder. Vela... well if anyone doubts his class I despair for them & Aaron Ramsey the best central midfield prospect , this sacred isle has produced since gerrard
the future's bright. The future's Red & White.

A partner for Fabregas
Yes Ramsey in 3 years... He'll be awesome. We HAVE TO buy a partner for Fab. And, greedy me, I so want a 30-goal a season striker to play alongside Arshavin (and it isn't Theo). From all the goss it seems The Prof is almost exclusively seeking to deal with defence BUT do we want another season of watching theplayers crisscrossing in front of goal? And don't we need someone who can cross accurately and be much more consistent with corners? I'm not sure my nerves could take so many missed scoring opportunities that Fab etc provide. I don't think Fab could take it either and he would push off to Barca (fast becoming Europe's best league - I watched some great Spanish league games last season). But I will always always always keep the faith...
