As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

And what he writes is spot on.

Has anyone in Europe done any studies on drinking at European matches?

Does Platini for example really believe that if no drink is sold at a ground then the fans do not drink at all before they arrive? I'd suggest that given the booze prices in footie grounds even more is consumed in the pubs than at the stadium. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Having been to a few away games in Europe. I believe that it is non-alcoholic beer that is sold in the ground.

The first season we played in the Champions League at the Grove, my old man and myself who have season tickets in block 12 were told that it is UEFA that control the sale of booze at grounds according to the staff behind the counter. I'm not sure if this is just a cover up by the club, or is that UEFA don't want to run the risk of couch potatos who spend there life supporting the Manks from the living room in there surrey abode, seeing drunk english men as this would be a bad image for the game if people are up and singing in europe.

Bearing in mind that in Italy the odd flare or 10 go off each game I feel that something is more sinister behind this, is it the club, police or UEFA you tell me but it is getting stupid now as english football is now the safest in europe.

Alcohol

Post by Alun »

I was at Old Trafford for the CL Semi Final, but in the home section. The bar was selling alcohol. My Man U colleague said that it does not close for CL matches. Is it the Police that are banning the sale of alcohol?
