Team for tonight

Post by Goonanana »

Any thoughts? Hopes? Our first full injury crisis at the min! if all the doubts don't play we'll have about 6 first teamers out

I Think we'll see the following cos Diarra deserves a game after carling cup and the flanimal has a niggle so its the perfect excuse

Almunia

Sagna Toure Senderos Clichy

Eboue Diarra Fabregas Diaby

RvP Adebayor

Or Nick B if one striker injured, Actually thinking about it, potentially Nickky B is our only fit striker! Eduarado def out and rvp and ade are both a doubt, if not we might see 5 in the middle with flanimal or gilberto in there, or even better i'd love to try our Theo up front with Nick, they'd complement each other well and Theo always plays better up front rather than on the wing

I wouldn't mind a 4-5-1

Almunia,
Sagna, Senderos, Toure, Clichy,
Eboue, Diarra, Cesc, Flamini, Walcott,
RvP,

With Walcott playing the role of Henry in his early years

Theo isn't good enough yet. Certainly not tough enough for an away trip in the Champions League. I honestly think having him in the side would be a complete liability.

Don't count Mr. Hleb out yet, he travelled with the team and Wenger will make a last minute decision. :D

I hope Diarra gets a go, wouldn't mind seeing Bendtner too.

As for Walcott being to weak or 'not good enough'. Should he be? Surely he should be able to at least give us a run off the bench, its as if he needs to be wrapped in cotton wool so everyone's mind is at ease.

He doesn't need to be wrapped in cotton wool, he is simply not strong enough for 90 minutes in the Champions League.

Nobody wants to see the kid do better than me but we all have to accept that young Theo has not developed at the rate we all hoped!

Anyhow.....Flaminal has to play no question. People are already putting Diarra in ahead of him on the back of a Carling Cup game and the fact we bought him from Chavski. In a five man midfield maybe but not at the expense of the French Basildon Brazilian!

As for up front I thing its going to be whose fit.....and to be honest I have a feeling we may only be looking for one as we go with five across the middle. My choice will always be RVP for this as sometimes Ade can look a bit lacklustre in this role, even more on a October night in Eastern Europe!

Right, I havent got a clue of who's available, and who Wenger will risk..Knowing us we'll pick up a few injuries going over a speed bump on the way to the ground, but this is me:

Almunia
Sagna
Clichy
Toure
Senderos
Eboue
Flamini
Cesc
Diaby
RvP
Eduardo

subs:
Bendtner
Gilberto
Hoyte
Wookash
Denilson

Wenger wont make too many risks tonight, I've seen a few ppl on other forums suggesting carling cup line-ups, ive even heard Barazite should play..anyone who knows the CL and espacially eastern european teams knows its ridiculous to underestimate a side like this..I assume Flamini will soldier on, not sure about Adebayor but I fancy Edu here, will know what to expect and has a proven goal record in the Champions League..

From what ive seen he is a liability in any competition except the Carling cup, v disappointed in Theo' progression. I have a feeling we will play 4-5-1 we experimented with Hleb just behind RVP in pre season games ie Ajax away and it worked well. Of course as long as Hleb is fit

Players in doubt, Helb/Van Persie/Ade/Flamini/Diaby. The opposition are dangerous at freekicks and formidable enough but would think them to be the worst team in the group, would rather rest players with niggles today and have them play against Sunderland.

exactly...what I've always thought is: get the job done, and then rest players..
Lets win the group, and then we can start to experiment with players/tactics in the home games v Prague/Bucharest

I wouldn't ever rest someone in the CL if I thoguht there wasn't someone just as good to step in, in the acse of the flanimal I don't think he's wroth risking when Diarra showed how good a palyer he is and how he would compliment Cesc.

Forgot all about the Hleb van Persie combo of early season, good point there that's a real possiblilty if he is fit

As for Theo agree he's not ready but if this is going to be an average team then he might play well and as we saw in carling cup final can be a big game player up front. Most realistic thing to happen is Hleb start and Theo to come on against tired legs

As far as free kicks and muscle go, good news is their scary massive centre back seems to be out with a back problem which is nice :)

Eboue and Diaby will be key tonight - got a feeling one of them is due a red card for some reason and in a half full stadium behind the iron curtain it could happen

dont write off theo .. yeah, granted he has lacked in confidence generally, the boy does have skill ...

I think he has been mostly played out of position ... would be interesting to see how he fairs up front .. with his pace, he only needs a couple of goals for his confidence to soar and people will start singing 'theo for england' ... u know how it is ..
