This topic is really difficult to come to a conclusion on because Eboue brings so much to the team in a footballing sense. He gives us balance down the right side and brings out the best in Wallcott and Hleb by allowing them freedom the roam infield with his overlapping roles and also his defensive stability. With Justin Hoyte (who is really turning into a good full back) I feel the right midfielder needs to be thinking causiously so as not to expose him whereas with Eboue they can almost leave the defensive side out. His temprement remminds me of Ralf in many ways, agressive, energetic and never to take a backward step, this can boil over sometimes and he needs to rein it in to be a great player for Arsenal.
A little sidenote notice i didn't say we have to accept his violent tendencies like the press do with Rooney, an agressive twat is an agressive twat if you cannot control it you are likely to get into trouble.

Well said. There always excuses made for Wayne Rooney I no he is an England star but he is still a jumped up little prick who can't control his tempertenementfunster5 wrote:This topic is really difficult to come to a conclusion on because Eboue brings so much to the team in a footballing sense. Wenger makes very few mistakes, but i think he made one when he sold Lauren too soon. The only thing Lauren did wrong was to get injured. We cant have a go at the likes of Ronaldo and Robben diving when Eboue does the same.Wenger has to come down hard on him as Eboue is losing all the goodwill he earned last season.
I agree 100% it makes me feel sick when I see Arsenal players dive and do all the things they complain about. I no its hard when you see all the teams around you doing the same and getting away with it, but come on we are better then thatdonaldo wrote:Wenger makes very few mistakes, but i think he made one when he sold Lauren too soon. Agreed. Eboue has appeared too keen to throw himself to the ground this season which is irritating, because we know from last year's Champions League campaign that he's better than that. It's something AW needs to tackle.
Going back (reluctantly) to Rooney, players like Eboue will naturally get more stick from the media than that spudfaced nonce beacuse:
a. They don't play for England.
b. They play for Arsenal
c. The media love Man Ure (and don't even bother to try to hide it) and therefore love to have a pop at the Arsenal.
Do you think Eboue could get away with screaming "f**k off, f**k off" in the ref's face week in, week out, and then have a bunch of apologist toadies in the media coming out with lame cliches like "if you took that part of his game away, he'd only be half the player"? Course not. It's one rule for us and another for them. As Romana points out above, Rooney's a spoilt, petulant thug.

Its always one rule for some and another rule for others. Lauren wasn't good enough anymore and Eboue maybe learned in the Final last year that sometimes cheating wins you games because some of the antics of Barcelona were terrible. IT goes on so much that the younger players are learning it and sometimes getting some reward from it. I don't like it but Wayne Bridge is just as guilty as is Robben. On that note I must say I have more respect for Robben because at the end of the game he came and shook all our players hands whcih I thought was very good in the circumstances.
Yes i suppose it was good of him but could also be taken another way in that he cheated his way through the game to win and then has the cheek to walk to our players and offer a hand of friendship. Players like Robben, Bridge and Ronaldo (who i hate with a vengence and wouldn't piss on if he was on fire!!
) bring the game down and like was mentioned above teaches the youngens that this is how you win. AW needs to tackle the problem coz that is not what Arsenal is about

You have got no clue mate. Eboue is one of the most consistent and most talented right backs we have had.nathan wrote:for a while now i have watched this guy play for the club and recently have watched his attitude to the game deteiorate. playing in the champions league last season he was awesome and really showed his potential however now he seems to be diving punching players faking injury and really tarnishing his name. does anyone agree here he needs to watch it or he risks ruining a potentialy great career
True Gooners would never slag off a player like him
Shame on you Nathan - you're probably a spud

neva sed he weren't talented eboue is one of my favourites hes defintley one of our most exciting prospects and one of the key mebers of our team but when he does all that rubbish he brings himself and his game down and only a true arsenal fan would try to stop a player from going into the gutter with his antics than let him carry on on the same path

Eboue is class, the best right back in prem and soon to be best right back in the world. Yeah he can now and again be controversial, but he's up against cheatin wingers like ronaldo and robben so it must do his nut, but who cares as long as he produces the goods thats all that matters.
Can't believe the subject question though. He's more than fit to wear the shirt!!
Can't believe the subject question
I think you are being harsh. There is no question about his ability. What is in question is his attitude. I think he is a fantastic player but this year he has done one or two things that need to be removed from his game. As for not being a true gooner if you slag players off. Don't be stupid. Cygan was shit. Does that make me any less a gooner? Of course not but constructive criticism is part and parcel of life.

I think people are getting away from the point of this thread. Eboue was wrong to (limpwristedly) lash out at Bridge (not much of a Bridge if you fall down that easy) and has been caught making a meal of challenges in the past. Had this not been an Arsenal player then we would all be saying how appaling he was, yes we have to stick by our players but we do need to see the true picture. Eboue is a fantastic player no question but some of the little things he does such as clutch his face whenever someone dare put in a physical challenge is a bit petulant he needs to concentrate on his football and keep supplying wonder crosses for TH and RVP. Cut him some slack but realise that he is no angel.
Totally agree with you mate. Robben, Ronaldo, are all good players dosen't stop themm being dirty cheating ponses who don't deserve to play football. This is one area of the game that needs to be addressed coz it bring the game down. Eboue is undoubletly a good player and has plenty of passion just needs to adjust the attitudedtjenkins wrote:I think you are being harsh. There is no question about his ability.
