NEVER AGAIN TO CARDIFF I GO

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We drove down and was there in plenty of time and on the way home it took us 3 hours to get back to kent. My mate, a Chelski fan, took 2 hours for a 20 minute train journey. Bring on Wembley

The trains yesterday were really, really bad. Great Western in their wisdom decided with 2 London teams in the final to only run 2 trains an hour from London. This meant that the average time to even get on a train was 90 minutes. The queue was right round the station and out into the street!

I was unfortunate enough to be on the 12:37 train which should have got into Cardiff at 14:50 but was sitting outside Newport for 90 minutes so arrived at 16:15. This train was absolutely packed and was really surprising there wasn't a serious incident.

Going back to London after the game, got to the front of the queue outside the station and then had to wait approx 40 minutes for the next train. So it seems they were running 2 an hour back as well. There were in fact so few trains a chant went up of "one train in Wales". A lot of people ended up standing all the way back to London.

No doubt Great Western will get hit with a load of compensation claims this week.

I know this is (supposedly) the last final at Cardiff but I would never, never go to Cardiff again for a final.

Boooo.
If Arsenal made the final of the the fa cup and Wembley wasn't ready i would hope that you would reconsider. I couldn't imagine not wanting to go to a cup final wherever it was. If Arsenal are there then i'll do my damndest to be ther too.

Agree wit that last post. I'd got to Cardiff again because this was the first really bad experience I'd had of getting there and in general it's been a great place for us. Don't think I'd consider going by train again though!

We got to Cardiff at 1030 just to be on the safe side. Its not as if there have never been travel problems before! I have great sympathy with those who left in plenty of time and still arrived late....but nferguson mate, why did get a train which was due to arrive in cardiff 10 mins before start of the match???? Wasn't this leaving it just a bit tight......

My Chelski mate was giving me some shit last week saying that M4 was gonna be mayhem so he decided to go by train. I was comfortably home by 9:00 and he arrived in our home town at 12:30. Guess i had the last laugh.
Bit pointless now but driving down and parking away from the ground probably the way to go but hey now we can get the train/tube to Wembley.

First Great Western are a fucking disgrace, what a nightmare for thousands of gooners and chelsea fans. First of all the fiasco at paddington and then not to be told after we had left Bristol that it would take two hours to get to cardiff because of signal problems. I had the enjoyment of listening to theo's goal sitting opposite some equally disgruntled chelsea fans and then Drogba's equaliser on a train near Newport (the train was dry as well, just shite). Eventually got to the ground at half time. Then watched us lose only to know that if i did not peg it back to the station i would be getting back to london in the early hours.

I am never going to cardiff again, actually make that wales.

I had the day ruined due to their incompetence and i am sure there must have been at least 1000 other gooners who had the same experience. Bring on Wembley.

I spent a fuckin fortune on flights and hotels because I wanted to leave at least a 24 buffer on each side of the match. There really is no excuse for assuming you can swan onto a train and waltz into a major sporting event with 10 mins to go!

Sorry to sound like a heatless twat but you really have to think these things through.
