ARSENE WENGER has been told top striker target Marouane Chamakh will cost £7million PLUS defender Mikael Silvestre.
The Arsenal boss offered that sum to Bordeaux but the French club rejected the bid — unless former Manchester United star Silvestre is also part of the deal.
Wenger sees Chamakh, 25, as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, who is on the verge of a move to Manchester City.
Arsenal signed Ajax defender Thomas Vermaelen last month and Silvestre will find himself pushed further down the pecking order at the Emirates.
Chamakh is preparing for life in North London but if Silvestre is not part of the deal, Bordeaux will have no have no hesitation in holding on to their gifted striker for the final year of his contract.

if he looked the like the fat ronaldo, i'd say buy him straight away. since he came back to brasil, he scored like 14 goals in 18 matches, even though he is 10kg above his weight...

This will mirror the Arshavin transfer I guess.
How many times did we read how crap the Russian league was or he wouldn't be any good or we didn't need him????

It doesnt matter who he is according to Sky Sports theres not been any approach made to Bordeaux.
Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has dismissed speculation linking Marouane Chamakh with Arsenal.
The Gunners are reported to be weighing up a €6million (£5.2m) approach for the Morocco international.
With Emmanuel Adebayor seemingly poised to complete a big-money move to Manchester City, Arsene Wenger is keen to bolster his attacking options.
A cash-plus-player deal involving Mikeal Silvestre has also been touted, but Triaud insists no discussions have been held regarding Chamakh.
"Arsene Wenger hasn't called me to say he is interested in signing Chamakh," Triaud told France Football.
"Who has talked about Chamakh going to Arsenal? Journalists. These are just stories without foundation.

His record is good but I have no idea whether he would be able to make it in the Premiership. Could we afford to give him 6 months/a year?
The one thing I do know is that including Silvestre in the deal shouldn't be a problem. Why do we need Silvestre?
Centre half? - He would come behind Toure, Gallas, Vermaalen (only 5'11"?), Djourou, Song and even Senderos.
Left Back? - We have the best and very good improving cover in Gibbs(particularly if Traore caomes back).
Right back? - Not sure we have great cover for Sagna if Eboue goes, but I don't think he's capable of playing there either.
