Annoying thing is, if we signed a quality DM and a top striker and we could keep everyone fit for the majority of the season then this might be the year that the league is more open. Manure have lost two huge players and the mousers are just not destined to win the PL with Benitez in charge as he is tactically and strategically naive.
A good run of results, a little momentum and we could be challenging. But we need to add that quality now. Without it we will be in a scrap with Villa Everton and Citeh for that 4th place spot...

I agree mate, a fully fit squad with 1 addition in MF and Ade gone is ready for a title charge I think.DB10GOONER wrote:Annoying thing is, if we signed a quality DM and a top striker and we could keep everyone fit for the majority of the season then this might be the year that the league is more open. There is no one to fear this year and the fringe players who played to much last year will have that experience now if they are called upon (which we hope is not the case like last year)

No I never mentioned defeding is all about the back four did I?Gunnersaurus wrote:So defending is all about the back 4? You should know it's not from watching us every week.
I'm not saying that their defence is amazing but just because one player was poor one year (like Richards) doesn't mean he is gonna be poor the next, remember Frank LeBouef???
They have the players there without adding, they just need to gel and get better protection, much like here.
I have simply said that the defence as a unit has quality in some areas but lacks that and experience in others. Also, it takes time to make a defence work as a unit. It is not simply throwing in four good players and watching the relationship form overnight.
This takes hard work and many hours on the training field as any professional footballer or coach will tell you.

City are certain top 4 - this year or next.
It is only a matter of time given the unlimited money.

Sorry! bit of a Basil joke.

I think they need a few winger midfielders unless they go 4-3-3 with teves and robinho playing off ade. They also have a good midfield 3 with Ireland, Barry and de jon and some excellent backup midfielders in Kompany and Elano (if they can get him back to playing aswell as he did during svens reign). Also a new centre back wouldnt go a miss either.

I think hughes will be sacked as he won't be able to handle the ego's.He's got to get them playing as a team which considering robinho plays hot and mostly cold, cruz another owen injury prone, trevez who not a goalscorer as such and if that greedy c**t signs ,well,we know him.I think not this season coming but the season after there be a team to challenge the top four.
I believe chavski will be the team to drop out as there getting old, there shit anyway and no one wants to go there!!!
and there is unrest in the squad?

6th - 10th.
They dropped a place last season - Hughes is fucking overrated. Finished 6th once, and no higher than 10th every other season in his career. SVE was a far superior manager, he only went because the media had sharpened their knives before the day he started.
It takes a TOP manager to get TOP names playing well with each other - Hughes couldn't fully harness Robinho last season - what will stop Tevez and Adebayor stepping back and saying "who the fuck are you?".
His team is a melting pot of volatile characters. Tevez, Bellamy, Adebayor, Ireland... good luck keeping them happy when they're on the bench.

I don't think they need any new wingers, i think they will go with the 4-3-3 with the midfield and forward line you mentioned, it suits Tevez and Robinho and it allows Ireland to play further forward. Kompany is actually a CB hughes has been playing him out of position for some reason but your right another top quality CB is needed and they will be pretty much there.Gooner Jim wrote:I think they need a few winger midfielders unless they go 4-3-3 with teves and robinho playing off ade. I think they look strong enough already to go top four, Hughes i think will be their biggest weakness but i think as some have said he may be gone by Xmas definitely by the end of the year, if Mourinho replaces him top 2 in his first full season.
With all those players and all that money, anything outside the top four will be a disappointment for Man City. It's about time someone challenged the supposed Big Four. Maybe Arsenal will be forced to buck up their ideas, unless they fancy playing Slavia Nobody and Anarthosis Anonymous in the Europa League on a Thursday night.
