Unless he sells I cannot see him buying two players and I have real concerns (still) about how our centre midfield is going to look on the first day of the new season :worried: Right now he should forget about signing huntelaar, chamakh or martins and concentrate his efforts of buying a quality defensive midfielder regardless of the cost. I would like to see us buy a pacy striker or huntelaar myself but right now if it took all the money from the greedybollix deal to buy a proven dm and that was the last bit of business we do this off-season then I would accept that.........somewhat reluctantly but just like christmas we cant expect santa to bring us everything we want

As I said on another thread though, if any other manager made the comments about not being in a rush to buy we would all ignore them but wenger has a history of saying things like this and actually meaning them

If the squad isn`t good enough, why haven`t they won the league in the last 5 years? That means Wenger is not good enough then?

What is wrong with him? He is so stubborn and foolish sometimes, just never learns from his many mistakes?

Owen was available on a free and he didn`t even attempt to sign him!
We don't need another crock.

You have never paid any attention to what he always says in transfer windows have you?

Agreed.

I imagine AW talks all that bollox because there ain't exactly an abundance of amazing defensive midfielders out there available to buy...

I don't think you would have to look too far to find an improvement on Song, honestly if we have to endure him and Denilson next season then we might as well accept the inevitible, ie another trophyless season, accompanied by poor fayre on the pitch.

So who would you chaps buy? Melo, Flamini & Diarra are all out the picture.

Wenger isnt going to come out and say we need anyone / anything too often - as it will inflate the price for anyone we go for.

I think we need another centre back, or a CB who can also play infront of the back four, but im not that concerned about replacing Adebayor, we have enough going forward, its keeping them out that hurt us last season.

Anyone remember the record equalling run of not scoring?

BDB,

Problem is the same stuff was being said last season and what did we end up with? A past it Silvestre and one for the future in Ramsey. Thus far, this policy of not announcing targets can hardly be seen as a roaringly successful one!!

Perhaps it is easier to claim who you were looking to sign after they've gone to another club and had some success, i.e. Drogba, Ronaldo, Essien and the plethora of others we were supposedly 'interested in'!!  :banghead:

Anyone remember the injuries we had last season? Quite a few offensive players out, it wasnt a squad dept issue, it was a bad luck with injuries issue Walcott, Adebayor, Rosicky, Eduardo, Van P were all out - Bendtner was our only fit striker at one point. Did he not go out any buy a certain Arshavin as well?

I agree, but he is not going to deviate from it - he never has been one to talk to much to the media. Hence most of our trasnfers are "undisclosed" - its how we do business, and on the whole its been a good approach. Last season we didnt replace the players that left adequately, but im pretty happy with the squad we have now - one more defensive player (preferably one who can head the ball!) and I think we can challenge.

Problem is those players will most likely miss large parts of next season as they all seem prone to injury.

True, but every team needs to get lucky with injuries if they are to challenge - Van P lasted the majority last year, Eduardo and Rosicky are cooming back, but with a full pre-season behind them should be ok.

I dont think its about luck EVERY team will have injuries but you have to have the squad to cope.

Correct, but we had a real harsh amount of injuries last season, no squad in the prem would have coped with the amount we had, and in the positions we had them in all at once - and that considered I thought we did bloody well !

I think we do have the squad to cope in a normal season, as ive said many times id personally like another defensive player in the squad but other than that im pretty happy, as far as the main squad goes.
