Its time to unleash Fran

Post by lb7 »

I have been watching Fran Merida since he arrived at Arsenal and i think he is now ready to be unleashed!Hopefully he will make the squad for sunday v Sunderland but if not he should start against Sheffield Utd.
My team for that game would be-

Fabianski
Hoyte
Traore
Senderos
Nordtveit
Walcott
Denilson
Diarra
Merida
Bendtner
Eduardo

What would yours be?

Yeah i have been watching him aswell, i really wanted to see him against Newcastle but that was a tight game until the last 10 minutes, hopefully we will see him feature against Sheffield Utd, I am going to see Chelsea v Reserves @ brentford on monday (6th) and should get to see a bit more of the lad, he played against Sp*rs reserves on tuesday and played well.
Sp*rs reserves actully are quite good maybe Jol should play them in the Prem

SORRY TO DISAGREE CHAPS BUT I ALSO HAVE BEEN WATCHING HIM AND HE IS CERTAINLY NOWHERE NEAR READY ENOUGH FOR THE PREMIERSHIP OR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

HE JUST WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO COPE PHYSICALLY UNLESS WE GAVE HIM A FREE ROLE BEHIND A CENTRE FORWARD. EVEN THEN I DOUBT HE COULD HANDLE THE QUICKER PACE AT THAT LEVEL.

I DO AGREE THAT HE SHOULD GET A RUN OUT IN THE CARLING CUP BUT I CERTAINLY WOULDN'T START WITH HIM, ESPECIALLY IN A MATCH AWAY FROM HOME.

I AM A FAN OF MERIDA AND THINK HE HAS ENORMOUS POTENTIAL. HOWEVER, HE IS NOT READY YET AND I BELIEVE IT IS WAY TOO EARLY FOR HIM TO BE THRUST INTO THE STARTING LINE-UP OF ANY GAMES PLAYED BY OUR FIRST TEAM SQUAD - C.C. AT HOME AGAINST A REALLY WEAK SIDE EXCLUDED.

YES, ALTHOUGH HE PLAYS AS A SUPPORT STRIKER (BERGKAMP ROLE) BEHIND BOJAN FOR THE SPAIN U17 NATIONAL SIDE.

DIDN'T REALLY HAVE A GREAT TOURNAMENT FOR THEM IN THE WORLD U17's THAT JUST FINISHED, ALTHOUGH HE DID PLAY WELL IN THE EUROPEAN U17's CHAMPIONSHIPS WHICH SPAIN WON EARIER THIS YEAR.

Any chance of converting him to a centre-back?

I must admit I'm not up-to-speed with the youth/reserves these days. I used to buy programmes in my younger days and had all the stats and Kevin Campbell, how devastating Paul Read and Paul Dickov were in tearing into opponents defences!

Will Merida have blossomed just in time for him to replace fabregas

Pretty much the same for me mate, take out Nordveit and Merida from the starting line-up though, I dont see them both starting in what could be a really physical game. I'd fancy us to see Diaby and he might even throw Flamini in for a bit of steel in the middle..
Havent actually seen Merida in the flesh and to be honest for every person thats said he's ready, there's been someone who says he isn't..

Nacer Barazite is the one you want to watch out for i watched him against West Ham reserves last year when he come on and was amazed by his touch and technique, he also scored against Barnet in pre-season.

Il be watching them again on Monday night against Chelski, and wateva level it is you want to beat them wannabees!!!

Have to agree with you there mate. I don't think he is ready just yet. I watched some of the U17 internationals he played in, and he looked quality, but its a big step which i dont feel he is ready for.

Hopefully we will have a decent run in the Carling Cup so players like Merida can try and prove their worth!

I've not seen enough of him to have an opinion. That said, I am sure that Wenger will know when he is ready to move up to join the first team.
