Well, after much speculation on here for weeks (at least) We're now at a stage where Arsene must buy. It will be an interesting and somewhat nervous couple of weeks or so!!

All the best Kolo, great servant however at the price city paid and at the present time i think kolo going is good for arsenal as kolo has not been the same player the last couple of seasons 1. his partnership with gallas doesnt work and 2. he looks as if he has lost a bit of pace.
However I am concerned with the CB we have remaining
Gallas - Injury prone
Vermaelen - Untried therefore cannot comment
Senderos - Not Good enough
Silvestre - Fucking shit
Djourou - Got good potential

So Vermaelen or Djourou to partner Gallas because i bet AW doesn't sign another CB this summer, he has recently said that he has 7 CB's.
I hope I am proved wrong because with the list above i am concerned

I'm not sure you can really blame Gallas. It was Wenger's decision to favour Gallas and to make him captain. And there's good arguments that Gallas is a better defender and that Toure didnt really take on the captaincy role all the times he was given the chance. Its Wenger that always favours his French nationals. And its Wenger thats accepted that money for what is a pretty good deal.

For the most part, they played alongside each other but Toure's form and fitness seriously dropped after ACN and malaria. Its Toure who has chosen to go to the cash cow that is Man City, a rival, rather than be professional and fight for his place or chose a club abroad.

But everyone blames Gallas. That said, I would happily blame Sylvestre for most things - swine flu, syphillis, spudmasher...

Good luck, Kolo. Sad to see him go - especially loved that he always clapped the fans when doing his weird superstitious thing at the beginning of each half. :barscarf:

Great deal for Arsenal - £16m for a 28 year old who has never been the same since contracting malaria and obviously putting on a lot of weight. Also African Nations Cup this year.

An excellent servant to the club, I remember he first was on the fringes used to come on as sub in a different position every week and just used to run around like a headless chicken.

Then Arsene tried him at CB and he excelled, and forged a formidable partnership with Sol Campbell. Also one of the few in recent seasons to always showed his appreciation to the fans.

Best Wishes and Thank You Kolo. Sorry but £16m was just too good an offer to refuse.

i think its a shame he's gone, a good servant for the club and our longest serving player i believe.

True he looked a little bit off the pace last season but having Malaria surely must have had some bearing on that. At 28 i think he still had a couple of years in him

£16m is a good price but only if we use that money to replace him with someone better and that signing is imminent and i very much doubt if this is the case.

Our first eleven is usually there or there abouts on the tops clubs but our problem is strength of the squad and as it stands i think our squad is weaker now following the loss of Toure.

All the best to you King Kolo :( :( :(

I think you can tell how 'the club' feel about a transfer from arse.com.

Hleb leaves, the website does nothing. Gilberto leaves, pictures galore.

Greedy leaves, the website does nothing. Toure leaves, a proper tribute:

It's amazing how differently you can feel about differnt players leaving for the same club.

I honestly could not give a F#@k that Adebeyor has gone to city but with Kolo it feels like a real loss and will be hard to see him in a city shirt.

It will be interesting to see what reception he gets compared to Adebaeyor when we play City??
