Hmm... I'm not sure that's correct.

I'm sure there's a loop hole.

Arshavin was cup tied because he played in the CL group stage with Zenit, but Diarra was eligible for Real Madrid even though Pompey played in the UEFA Cup.

Therefore, I think Hangeland COULD play for us as long as he doesn't play in the CL.... which he won't as he's at Fulham

Does Wenger want him though??? is he even good enough??? - I don't know the answer to that (before you ask :D )

Of course, the rules may have changed since last season.

I think Mike's right.

I recall Barry being fucked for CL if Liverpool would have signed him as he played in a Villa inter-toto match last year. Madrid could only register one player for the CL after the group stages, which is why Huntelaar got shafted.

If Hangeland were to play for One F in and we did sign him, he would be out for the group stages but could register for the knockouts as he only played in Europa first time round.

Or so I understand it.

The rules
18.07 Excluding the UEFA Super Cup, and subject to paragraph 18.18 below, a
player may not play UEFA club competition matches for more than one
competing club in the course of the same season. A substitute player who is
not fielded is entitled to play for another club competing in the same season’s
UEFA club competitions, provided that he is registered with the UEFA
administration in accordance with the present regulations.

18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
in the same competition for another club; or
for another club that is currently in the same competition.
Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League,
his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any
point in the current season.
18.18 applies after Xmas. So he would not be CL cup tied but would be Europa League tied for games after Xmas.

Both average players for me, everyone always says they have time to improve, then let them improve, loan one of them out if we buy a DM, then if in 2 years time they are good enough then keep them. But right now they are not up to the standards of quality DMs im afraid.

oh i agree completely that song is a average player,i think denilson is even worse though.

the problem with our situation in the defensive midfield position is that a average player is the best we have.

Hengeland looks like a Norwegian Senderos to me! Alright as a big fish in a small pond but come to Arsenal and every mistake will be highlighted!
