Kalou rejected Arsenal transfer in January 2014

In the same way that Gallas, who is obvioulsy our best centre half is mocked, everyone will call this kid shit.

A shadow of his former self Viera returning and it is champagne corks out. A young player who obviously admires our club despite presently being at a rival and he is automatically shit!

Who said he was shit?
Second answer down..............the exact phrase was "bloody useless"!

Oh right.

He's not shit but he's not different to what's here already.

This is becoming a very one dimensional squad.

To be fair gus I think that you are generalising a bit there. :o I dount if you could find 5% of Gooners that were unhappy at the purchase of gallas at that time and we all recognised what a good defender he looked with the chavs. It is his conduct as much as anything since he joined that has pissed a lot of Gooners, myself included, off and yes his partnership with kolo has been poor but unlike kolo gallas hadnt got the goodwill in the bank from years of service and his criticising the other players also worked against him.

Kalou however is a totally different ball game - he has looked shit for the chavs almost every time we see him  What will he bring to the party that we do not already possess ? In my opinion wenger's only concerns when he buys players are (a) is he cheap & (b) is he french or african cos other than these 2 boxes I cannot see what this guy ticks :?

I think Kalou would be a decent enough signing, I definitely prefer him to Chamakh - but only if we absolutely must buy a striker. Which we don't.

I think he'd be much better suited to our game than to Chelsea's btw. He's also at a good age and has plenty of Premiership experience. At 6 or 8 million he'd be a steal imo.

As Gus (for a change) is taking this current rumour in different stance I'll do the honours.....

'He could do a job for us....'
and..
'Can he play as Defensive Midfield'

Hadareud, my thinking entirely!

We cannot afford to have more players having yet another "transition season" before they get used to the English game as Chamakh undoubtedly would!

I do however feel we need another centre forward as both Eduardo and Van Persie are by no means guaranteed to play a full season and Bendtner simply does not have enough goals in him!

I do not think that any of our current strikers have say 25 goals a season in them so maybe it is a case of a selection chipping in 10 to 15 which I think Kalou may well get.

I agree totally but if Wenger is set on another striker then I do not see Kalou as a bad option given price, age and experience in the Premier League.

To everyone who says he has hardly done well at Chelsea let's remember that Henry was hardly pulling up trees anywhere before joining us.

The top scorer in the league scored 19 goals last year so everyone is in the same boat.

Wenger on the Chamakh deal:
Wenger is reluctant to improve his bid and has admitted that, in his eyes, the agreement is dead unless Bordeaux change their stance.

"In five months, if he doesn't prolong his contract, Chamakh will be free to talk to any club and Bordeaux won't get anything," the Frenchman told L'Equipe.

"In the current context, to me, it is over. Let's say that at the moment it is terminated.

"I like Chamakh, he is a forward that attracts me, but I already have (Theo) Walcott, (Nicklas) Bendtner, (Robin) Van Persie, (Andriy) Arshavin and Eduardo. I am in no rush.

"My offer seems fair to me, taking the market into account. Chamakh would be good, but there are other options should we wish to pursue them."

over and out i've got your message

That's why we're after Kalou now I would think. Wenger really wants a striker. For whatever reason that may be.

Good squad player, can play in many positions, can cover our many injuries we will get lol.

If we can get him for less than 8 mil should be a def buy.

I'm kinda with Gus on this as I can see the attraction from both AW and Kalou. As Gus as pointed out there's no transition of language or the league except for the short time of settling into the Arsenal.
Considering the price (even £8M) is a near snip for a striker and I think AW would be able to get more out of him than the Chavs ever did. (or I'd like to think)

I can see why people may seem a little despondent with this news as you haven't got the excitement of seeing someone new. Nor are you waiting to see how Kalou plays as we've seen him play for a short few years. Also he's playing for the Chavs, one of our rivals, but anyone playing for a top 4 side doesn't really standout as all players the top 4 squads are fairly good. Someone like Kalou at (say) Blackburn would more than likely be really doing the Biz but at the Chavs will never stand out!!
So yeah the news is a little...'Meh!' but I can see the sense.
