So the Scots will be in town again... How many of "them" will travel for nothing this time?

It's a bit weird. Other than Panathinaikos/Olympiakos, every team in the "non Champion" section would have smashed any opponent from the Champions section. If they have a problem with the "Champions" league being full of non champions, rename it to the "Elite league" and let Europe's elite play in it. The reason the CL attracts the money is because it has the best teams. Teams like Debrecen don't help sell the competition to international TV audiences, and it's selling the package which pays Platini's salary.

Also, since when was Israel moved from the Middle East to Europe? Not our fault if their middle eastern counterparts want to bomb them, feck off to yer own tournament

Exactly! Turkish teams should be in the Asian version of the Champions League as well!

nah turkey has as much right to european football as greece, its just the significant cultural differences that strengthen the division between asia and europe.

Turkey is not European culturally, linguistically and most importantly geographically. 95% of their landmass, including the capital Ankara, is in Asia.

The biggest mistake that Arsenal and it's more rose-tinted fans could make would be to underestimate Celtic, especially if using the win against Rangers in a friendly as the barometer as to how we'll do against their rivals.

Yes, I know that in theory we should prove too good for them, but the Scots love nothing more than giving the 'arrogant' English a bloody nose, and history is littered with examples of the big Scottish teams turning over their supposedly superior rivals from down south.

Let's make sure we don't fall into that trap and that we show our opponents the respect they deserve.

agreed.

but i still think our squad is heck of a lot better than celtic's. by a GREAT margin. and we are probably not facing this match without a lot of carefulness, as losing the tie would have terrible financial consequences, which our boss is aware of, being almost more an economist than a football manager...

don't worry fellas, the treble is ours this season and i'm not counting the beer cup

greece, russia and serbia are chalk to our cultural and linguistic cheese. scandinavia has contributed to german, polish, dutch, flemish and british culture and language but have had next to no impact on spain, portugal or italy. although the majority of the landmass was once known as 'Asia Minor' it is on the Eurasian Tectonic Plate and on a different one to Syria.

Top post fella, be sure that they'll raise their game against us. Look at the result they just got in Moscow after losing the 1st leg at home. Eastern Europe aint the happiest of hunting grounds for us and would'nt have put too much money on us turning that one around. Got a feeling this could be well and truly the hardest CL qualifier we've had so far and a good reason to avoid it but as things stand right now I think we'll be lucky to even be at this stage this time next year
