Cesc would be mad NOT to leave

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Cesc would be mad NOT to leave

Post by mrgnu1958 »

If Barca are serious, then if i was him id leave.
The only reason i think he may stay, is because its the world cup in june
and he may not get a regular start at Barca leading up to the WC.

AND if Arsenal are just money orientated, then this IS the year we"d get the maximum bid for cesc.
IMO we can live without cesc.

With the former Barcelona man in the side, The Gunners have been much more potent in front of goal – scoring 2.1 goals per game on average compared to the 1.3 without him in the side. Much of this is surely down to the presence of Fabregas in the team, as the former Barcelona youngster has created 60 goalscoring chances for his team-mates this term, seven of which have led to a goal.
Despite a lower pass completion rate with Fabregas in the team, Arsenal have been able to keep possession much more frequently when he has played – ....................................

The most important stat, however, is that Arsenal have been a far more successful side with Fabregas pulling the strings in the middle of the park. The Gunners have won 59% of games with him in the team, compared to 47% without him.
Besides Villa's collapse, AA and Robin, Cesc was the difference between 4th and 5th place.

I wouldnt blame Cesc for going as he would be joining his boyhood club who happen to be the best club team in Europe and we are light years away from Barca's standard.

If things were reversed and you got a chance to play for Arsenal after they had just won the European cup none of us would turn it down!!!!

Think he is here for this season but will probably go next summer with Arshavin the summer after. He would be missed though

If we fail - again - then he will be gone in a years time. That's certain. Even if we win something, the 'Cesc to Bara' story will be up and running long before the season ends.

What infuriates me, is that but a fraction of the £30 odd million we are likely to get for him, will find it's way back into the team.

I think cesc has shown us some misguided loyalty here cos he wont win anything with us anytime soon :( Yes I take on board the arguement that as it is world cup year playing regularly might be the key thing for him but if I am honest I believe that he is making a big mistake for himself in staying. I know that it is unlikely but should celtic knock us out of the champs league then I think cesc's agent will be putting in 20 hour working days from that point until sept 1st

I wonder how many of our players have a clause in their contracts that allows them to leave should we fail to qualify for the Champions League? We might see a few of the so called big names looking to make a hasty exit before September 01st.

Maybe the club should show him some love back by buying some players who will improve the team.Instead of him having to play alongside Diaby Denilson and Eboue

I dont think he would be mad not to go. I think he should stay. If he gets a starting place at the world cup and plays a blinder you can almost certinly add 10 mill to whatever you think he is worth. Truth be told i like cesc but Captain NO Irreplacible NO. On too many big games last year he dissapeared. Although im not a fan of tabloids i do agree with the fact that we a re a shorter less physical team than most in the premier league. Wenger should know this. we have no leader in cesc if we dont buy a decent center half of a decent deffensive mid fielder then i would return the armband to gallas.

How in the name of jesus is returning the captains armband to gallas going to fix our shortcomings at centre half and the defensive midfield position ? :? Yes we need 2 big physical players to fill those positions but size does not make you a good captain - cesc isnt the greatest leader of all time but ffs gallas was a shocking choice and for me did not display a team first mentality which all the good captains have. The next time the reappointing gallas as captain idea pops into your head I suggest you go into a darkened room and have a little lie down for yourself
