I saw him play a few times for Juve last year and he has improved since he went there and i was very impressed with him, he's as good a physical defensive midfielder as i have seen around at the moment and on the evidence of what i saw of him last season he's just what we need.
bg as far as i know this is not the same guy

VD Vaart is a good midfielder, but more attackminded - we still need someone in the Mid-filed who can kick the shit out of the opposition and play as well.........mind you £6mill is a v good price.......and we all know Le Boss can still shape any player into a new role/position, so..........VDV could be the answer....

Yesterday's result should give us a BIG boost confidence wise etc in readiness for playing the shitbags up north on Tuesday night.

Get the feeling AW will change the line up......

If he really is available for that kind of money, then the words 'a gift horse' 'don't look him in' and 'the mouth' come to mind.

agreed. i think we need much more a sissoko than a van der vart. sissoko is very strong physically, knows how to time his tackles and can do some decent passing. would be a good second option for song.

sissoko and hangeland before the window closes would change my treble to a quadruple, no doubt about it :-P

Are we talking about the Sissoko on Captain Fabregas's post ? if we are then he is the guy that used to play for Liverpool.

ok apologies....

Moussa Sissoko - is the young guy that has just broken into the French national team, pretty highly rated but at that 'potential' stage.

Mohamed Sissoko - Is the guy that looked very mediocre at Liverpool. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole to be honest - especially as he's yet another African (albeit French born but plays for Mali) so he'll be gone regularly to play in the African tiddlywink cup etc.

Shouldn't it have been ''good second option for Song    ''

He's definitelty not pretty to watch but he physically imposes himself on the middle of the park, he's bigger quicker and more mobile than Song and he gets stuck in.
Whether or not he would be available i don't know, but the addition of Melo at Juve playing a similar role makes me think it's a possibility, if the offer was right.
Also on the CB front i noticed yesterday Ancellotti started with Carvalho ahead of Alex, if that is a sign of things to come i doubt Alex will fancy sitting on the bench for most of the season again, having done well when he got his chance last season. A couple more weeks of benchwarming and a last minute bid from us for him could be very tempting.

He couldn't have been that mediocre at Liverpool if Juve wanted him and he was only 21-22 at the time.
Yes the ANC shit is a pain, but every time i saw this guy last season he looked on a par with anyone else i have seen playing that role including Yaya.

In my opinion vdv is a class player and is very much in the wenger type of player mould 8) I would be cautious about his willingness to fit into a team type of mentality though cos every time I have seen him I think he likes to do his own thing. Overall I have really really mixed views here though cos vdv at 6m is an absolute steal but of course it is throwing money at an area where we are already overflowing whilst totally ignoring that much sought after DM :(

Another player we won't sign. Anyway, we've beaten Everton 6-1 and the 3rd best team in Hungary 5-0 which proves that Wenger was right all along i.e. Song and Denilson are winners with great mental strength - OK. To sign Van Der Vaart would be to 'kill' Diaby and Coquelin.....

We don't need to sign anyone OK

BG......and you could also say that if Sissoko was actually any good at Liverpool then they wouldn't have sold him for around 7m to Juve!! :D

He took a long time to recover from that eye injury, seemed to utterly wreck his form there
