Free scarves for Portsmouth game?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yep, all you'll hear is 3,000 pompey fans laughing, a *word censored* in a stupid hat ringing a bell and a few thousand Arsenal "fans" munching the last of their nachos.

Depends if we are aloud to stand up to hold them before someone texts the steward number

I no it isnt the way some people may like to try and change the atmosphere at home games but a least the club are finaly listening to the fans.

Seems like abit of a catch 22 situation, people moan and bitch about the shocking atmosphere at homes games but when the club try something to change it like the "Arsenalisaton" (spelling? ) and the scraves people call it tacky and embrassing.

The way i look at it, it will be better than how it was for the last 2 seasons wether its for 1 game or the rest of the season. :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

You've got it all wrong mate. There's no catch 22 situation and it's very simple. Arsenal had the chance to seat the original clock-end fans at the new clock end and chose not to offer season tickets. They then make the redaction section the furthest possible distance from the away fans. The club frown on any show of "spontaeneous" passion, only gimmicks like this when the fans are told that today is scarf waving day or flag waving day.

Arsenal want a controlled corporate atmosphere, not the spontaneous "in your face" atmosphere that exists perhaps at places in the lower leagues and stoke/burnley.

If you have a beef, then it is with the club, not the fans who remember when the atmosphere might have been shit but at least anything that did occur was natural.

@Tallest: You must be the most positive gooner going. It's an admirable trait, that makes me realise how cynical I've become

Maybe if the atmosphere is great tomorrow (with a thumping win) it could then carry over to celtic on wednesday( another win keep it up) and then utd away on saturday,if we could achieve a result in old trafford then surely spirits will be high and the atmosphere will keep up.I think the atmosphere is more linked to the fortunes of the club on the pitch, not a few scarves but who knows! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

I was gonna lock this as we already have a Portsmouth thread, but this thread is more about the free scarves and atmosphere, so I've editted the title and left it open - hope that's ok with you Gooner Jason.
