Free scarves for Portsmouth game?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Most of the grounds which have a good atmosphere are helped by the fact fans bring in scarves, banners etc. It looks good for example when celtic fans, hold their scarves up, and sing "you'll never walk alone"

Obvioulsy from our point of view it doesnt help when TWOY starts blasting out and some people may slate it but i think the club are at least trying to do there part in encouraging fans to create an atmosphere.

Where the away fans sit, redaction sit and the other issues do need to be rectified but i cant see the club doing a complete revamp of where season tickets are located.

A couple of blocks allocated as singing areas where red members, silver members can buy tickets, and then the club could see the response it got and go from there.

The fans that want to make noise either dont go because the dont enjoy a home match atmosphere or are dotted all round the ground and therefore it is hard to get songs going

looks like they are the scarves you buy in the armoury and not the cheap ones you get in the membership packs

Yeah the scarves are crap material guys, but hey if they were the flash ones that have the gold cannon on the end, the club would be left with a dent in their wallet, and we don't want that do we. I helped put 'em out today, stayed for 5 hours, covered the whole ground pretty quickly actually. Also, had a decent look around, stadium looks good, pitch even better. Near block 32, there is a wall which has a sort of shrine with 90+ famous backdated arsenal programmes (highbury days / 49ers etc) all printed across the wall, side by side, in a big block. Looks fucking great! :barscarf:

Not THAT bothered about them. Shame they'll be shite quality though. Would be a good souvenir from our 1 - 1 draw against Portsmouth!

The cynic in me says that there were thousands of scarves left over from the membership packs. Many people went for the "lite" option. This is a good way of using them up.

BUT, any attempt at improving the atmosphere is a positive thing. So the club should be applauded for it.

We all know that the noise level has suffered due to bad planning.

We should have kept specific areas for the old Northbank and Clock End.

It's a fuck-up of the highest order.

i feel your pain but at least its getting there, i think time will be a major factor with the new ground. winning something will give the place character and a soul at last

Methinks a free beer on every seat would go a long way to help. Or failing that the ability to take your own beer to your seat

maybe a crisp 50 quid note too! it'd still leave enough money in the transfer kitty to get a decent DM

And selling it from an old green wooden hut behind the nb for less than £4 a pint will be a big improvement too  Usually miss ko due to alcohol related delay  but if mine's still there it's bound to be the same thing that I got in the membership pack. Rather wear me old bar scarf that I got in 72 and wore to school every day for three years to wind up the whammers  Still ere, and hanging proudly over a mirror  had to sew me own badge into it tho, none of this namby pamby badge already sewn in stuff

Ah they were the days Charlie.

50 pound note would be excellent, but like Charlie, alcohol delays would deprive me of it.

The scarves in the piccy look like the 'proper' Armoury one's - which are MUCH better quality than the tat they put in the membership pack...
