UEFA investigating "dive"

UEFA investigating "dive"

Post by Skooner »

At the end of the day, I don’t mind if they do this, as long as it is done consistently across the board. Still not seen any replays from last night but it does sound like a dive.

Seems to me though that UEFA are only reacting because of everyone shouting and balling about it.

Ok at the same time then they surely have to investigate the tumble that the Everton player tookagainst Burnley last week too!

Or because its Arsenal?! If anything comes of this it will be a complete fucking disgrace, we have watched season after season of tossers like Nistelrooy and Ronaldo diving to win penalties and its all fine...as soon as something similar happens at Arsenal, all hell breaks loose!

It was all the commentators went on about last night, i think its incredibly sad!

Fine if they do it, but I'd want EVERY dive to be investigated and EVERY player vilified if they do proceed with an investigation. Not just Eduardo because a someone whined loudly in one game.

Be interesting to see where in the rules it says retrospective action can be taken for simulation?

Don't have a problem with dives getting investigated - in fact, ideally, every player who dived would get a 1 match ban, but there is no precedent for this.

But why start it now? is it because it was an Arsenal player? I have seen far worse acts of simulation, at least the keep touched him, even if it was slightly...

Why did this not start when Rooney went over against us when nobody touched him, or one of 267 times Ronaldo has won a penalty after no contact? or after a Van Nistelrooy run into the box and fall on your face special?

Im absolutely fucking outraged by this, if anything comes of it it will show what a farce it all is!

Well if we're doing it retrospectively then they'll just have to go back and review every dive ever!

Babel
Rooney
Ronaldo
Gerrard

EVERYTHING!!!

When Owen did it against Argentina it was "clever", Gerrard is notoriously light on his feet, Rooney against us to end the unbeaten run was never brought to attention by the media

Not one of the above was highlighted to the extent this one has, Xenophobia? maybe in my opinion, It was a clear dive no doubt, but you cant punish some and not others.

Every team has a player that goes down easy, and Arsenal have also been the victims of this many times, its football unfortuntately. Tottenham stopped showing the game on the big screens because of the Ronaldo dive against them last season (I think it was) resulted in crowd unrest.

Il forgive Eduardo as the last time he took contact he didnt play for over a year!

Agreed

VERY dangerous precedent to start!!

i posted elsewhere I am disspaointed with Eddy and hope he dosent do it again!! that said it was his first offence and *word censored* like ronaldo, stevie g etc make a living out of winning pens!!

no surprise to see Arsenal first team to suffer, I expect a token 2 game ban then nothing done next time it happens

As I said earlier, there would have been no unbeaten run if Pires hadn't been "light on his feet" against Pompey!

Let it blow over and stopp being too concerned.

Pires was widely condemned and labelled a diver for this one dive, which i don't condone, nor do i condone Eduardo last night { personally i'd rather he'd have waited till Saturday to do it  } but what really annoys me is that the likes of Stevie Me in particular, and Rooney to a lesser extent have been getting away with it for years and our so called "expert pundits" don't even mention it,yet as soon as it's an Arsenal "foreigner" all hell breaks loose.

Yes, it was a dive, but it is ridiculous in investigate especially that one now. If they were consequent they had to stop the whole Italian Serie A!
