Les Murray has a whinge....
Alhough you most likely don't know he is, this guy is one of the revered analysts of the game over here (insert vomiting), and he has decided to complain about Wenger, even comparing him with Usmanov in ruining Arsenal's 'Englishness'!

Someone who believes that FIFA are in the business of protecting the integrity of the game is clearly deluded or doesn't know anything about football.
He calls Arsene Wenegr a whinger but that's all he himself is doing here - He provides no ideas of his own as to what he wants to be done And of course AW protects the interests of Arsenal - what else is he supposed to do. That's what every football manager does. And I see how many Arsenal players on inetrnational duty this weekend - not much of a boycott there by the boss.
Finally, AW states what we all know - The European Cup is better quality than the World Cup.
I think this is tabloid crap from someone who wants to rubbish the considered opinions of a well-respected manager, throws in some lines about losing its soul, and doesn't come up with idesa of his own.
Maybe he should read this forum where there have been some excellent pieces about the state of English football
Is the guy a comedian? This is more like a description of the World Cup - with its ever expanding number of teams and corporate sponsors. To hell with the EPL, says FIFA, and to hell with its expanding obesity, both in terms of commerce and football quality. The EPL, and Arsene Wenger, are not at the centre of the football universe and their needs are secondary in the grand scheme of things.

The thing you quoted is fair enough I thought, there are bigger things then the EPL.
and Alex has blamed his players for what happened when? If Murrary does that then I suppose it is fair enough though not something I agree withOne is his capacity to be imbued with acute paralysis whenever there is a requirement to criticise his own players, even when they are grossly out of line, such as in those thuggish encounters of a few years ago with Manchester United, when Wenger’s personal ego duel with Alex Ferguson cluttered his judgement.
uh Arsene has never asked a player to withdraw, he has encouraged international football and has many times praised it. Where most managers bitch about the African Cup (you brought a player from Africa and then get shocked that the country should want him to play...), Arsene merely suggests it be moved to a more convinent time for everyoneHe works for Arsenal and Arsenal’s interests always govern his public pronouncements, always happily received by the media. He is a serial whinger when it comes to releasing players for national team duty. He reckons the World Cup is rubbish in terms of technical quality compared to the major European club competitions, and so on.
so he isn't allowed to poke holes in retarded plans? And now he’s on the attack again, at odds with Sepp Blatter over the FIFA chief’s call for a limit of five foreign players per team in domestic competitions.
the excess of the EPL? Possibly though the nostalgic 80's hooligans did far more damage I thought. The uncurbed amount of talent coming in, no, not really. It has upped the few good players, improved the national team but if the English talent was trained properly, it would flourish as it does in Holland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy and so onEngland’s cultural football identity, as it has been argued in this space before, is dying, is now almost dead, thanks to the excesses of the Premier League and its avarice for foreign talent, uncurbed.
fair enough if he comes up with plans that work. Problem is, I don't think Platini has.And so does Michel Platini, the UEFA president, who has gone on a campaign to persuade Europe’s political heavies to intervene and protect their countries’ football cultures from being eroded by this madness of gluttony and, especially, foil the cancer of foreign ownership of clubs.
funny, I could have fucking sworn that Arsene has been saying no, he doesn't need money and he didn't want someone taking over the club. He has said it a fair few times this season. Does this guy assume when a woman say no to him, she means yes?As I write Wenger’s Arsenal is being circled by another fat Russian oligarch, some bloke called Usmanov. If he takes over, more money will be thrown at the grand mission of achieving results, there will be more foreign celebrity players, and there will be even more trophies, not to say profits.
Wenger will be happy. There will be more ‘quality’ and the EPL will be further elevated as a magnet for the world’s markets.

He's just confused. E.g., he doesn't seem to know that Wenger doesn't want more money to throw "more foreign celebrity players". So it's not surprising his conclusions are out of whack.
There is though a perfectly good example of a club that has lost its soul by gorging itself on expensive foreign superstars. Perhaps someone should tell him.
