How angry are you? Now the Oasis thread.
I don't think we're gonna meet in the middle here. For me one of the best and heaviest influenced guitar (skiffle) songs ever is Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry. After listening to many Beatles tracks they never did anything that he didn't. And he came before the Beatles, so they really just updated tunes and ideas that had been put around before. Like Oasis. Music would easily have got here where we know it, if it was solely put down to Chuck and his pals.dundeegunner wrote:number 5, you are correct in that the beatles took influences from the skiffle movement and the american rock and roll scene. but from rubber soul onwards (1965) they were the band that all of their contempories looked to. because of their success, they had the pick of studio technology of the time, the were allowed "artistic freedom", and trust me, it it wasnt for lennon, mcartney and harrison, music would not be as we know it todayNumber 5 wrote:But Dundee yes you are being condisending. I love my music as far as guitar bands go. As a near 30 year old, Oasis define my generation. The Beatles only bult on what went before them. To say anything else is really narrow minded.dundeegunner wrote:number 5, im not being condisending, maybe you know your music.
but the beatles were the most forward thinking, pioneering musicians of their own , or any other generation.

Oasis remind me of Ronaldo, great ability but total dickheads. Especially Liam.
They certainly don't symbolise anything from my youth, but then again I grew up in stokenewington and never met a flash northern c**t until I was about 23 years old!
I've got alot more respect for guys like Ian Brown than those 2 tossers!

we're gonna have to agree to disagree here. IMO, they're just an indie band for people who don't really like indie bands. people who listen to Galaxy FM or some shit, but maybe wanna impress some muso-journalist boy? really run of the mill crap. I'm gonna blast some Slayer now to cleanse my mind from this dross.dundeegunner wrote:to be fair, they were better than thatremi f*ckin garde wrote:oasis are for floppy haired student tossers who dream of "being in a band". fuck em.
