It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

to be fair, they were better than that
we're gonna have to agree to disagree here. IMO, they're just an indie band for people who don't really like indie bands. people who listen to Galaxy FM or some shit, but maybe wanna impress some muso-journalist boy? really run of the mill crap. I'm gonna blast some Slayer now to cleanse my mind from this dross.
Have a blast of "Necrophobic" for me as inspiration for what you'd like to do to Mike Dean right now.

And I suppose Definatly Maybe is twonk?
I used to LOVE Oasis.... they were my band of my youth.
There 1st 2 albums were superb, as was the B-side album and Knebworth. Be Here Now was ok... but then they became a very, very average band.
Since then they've become a parody... almost a "mock" band stuck in the 90s...10 years of useless output, coupled with that daft swagger, mancunian "mad for it" groupies, and brotherly tiffs.
They may have split today, but in truth it's 10 years too late

I will raise you with
Gas Panic
Sunday Morning Call
Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Songbird
The Importance Of Being Idle
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel
Falling Down
I'm Outta Time
These tunes are not the work of an average band. A million groups would kill for those tunes.
They WERE... I agree. I loved them. I saw them live 3 times, and I queued outside a HMV to buy the Be Here Now Album... they were a huge part of my life at the time, and I'm gutted they never hit the heights of their first 2 albums again.
The problem was, they couldn't adapt. They had their sound, and that was it. It sounded dated once the 90's ended, in my opinion... yet they kept churning out the same, tired formula.
Anyway, on a positive note... Definately Maybe and Morning Glory would make my list of Top 10 greatest albums. (The Smiths and The Stone Roses would also be in there )

G88ner, is any band in this country aloud to hit the heights of their first two albums? Arctic Monkeys 3rd album is getting trashed right now. I guarantee in 10 years if Oasis get back together they will sell out 3 nights at 90,000 stadiums. Only legends do that. Not 90's has been's.

Fair point, but I held Oasis up there on a pedastal when I was younger, so I feel a little let down that they haven't gone on to new heights and become bigger than The Beatles, or Jesus, or written an album so fucking good that everyone on Earth put down their weapons forever!
Noel is a legend, and it's a shame that Oasis went the same way as other bands and ran out of ideas
