TG, i have my own thoughts on AA, i believe that the work rate required from him in the Barca style 4-3-3 system we are playing is stunting his explosiveness and creativity. I don't think he is unfit i just don't think he's the type of player (like most creative players) that likes grafting for 90 minutes and in the system we are playing that is expected of him, i think normally he would prefer to float around waiting to get the ball and then explode into the game, at the moment he is having to run around like a blue arse fly when we don't have the ball so when we get it half the time he's too f*cked to want the ball or to do much with it when he gets it.
I like the system and i think positionally it suits the types of players we have but i don't think we will see the best of AA while we are playing it and the same with but to a lesser extent Rvp, for the same reasons.
The way we play this system suits the Tevez's of this world, guys who are used to grafting and being creative, but for your normal flare players, running around like a blue arsed fly when we haven't got the ball is there worst nightmare and although it's best for the system and the team you won't see the creative best of them while they are having to work like that.
BG, i do agree with the fact that arshavin is not the most mobile of players and hasn't got the greatest workrate around, and that he would indeed probably benefit from a 4-4-1-1, with him being the dennis. i do not think, however, that he is a better and more decisive player than cesc fabregas is, and therefore i would not change our scheme simple because it would suit him 10% more. when i look at our 433, i see this season's song outplaying last season's song by a country mile, and that is the same with denilson and even fabregas, who seems to have exactly the freedom to do his work and still have his defensive obligations.
that change in midfield made our defense look a lot stronger imo. and considering we will have nasri back in a while and maybe even rosicky, those two will be fighting for the denilson position, making it a very healthy competition for places, and hopefully removing the need of playing the stupid-ass-who-cant-head-a-ball-even-being-11-ft-tall-diaby.
i think arsha can play wide, not in the midfield but surely in the attack like he is doing right now. we can have one of the CM to cover for him when he does not want to track back, that's the good thing of having 3 CM in this scheme.
anyway, those are my views on the formation, i can be completely wrong anyway...
