BBC deadline day updates....

Post by hanny73 »

There's not much point looking on there for Arsenal signings but it may make you chuckle over the course of the day - Here's the first....

From Simon, via text on 81111: "I work for Clarks and have just been requested to send some size 10 shoes to our shop in Liverpool. As I'm sure you know, David Villa is a size 10 so I believe he will sign for Liverpool today

606 board, is this ****?

Just got the latest on Arsenal from my mate who claims he has a 'top source' within the club.

News is that Wenger is trying to do a deal with Sporting Lisbon for Miguel Veloso (Megson will probably tell you its a waste of time) for 8m with Carlos Vela going the other direction for a season long loan. Also Arsenal have an informal agreement with Marouane Chamakh to join them in January - Bordeaux to be paid 1.5m.

"Talking of footballers' approach to deadline day, former Derby and Wolves striker Dean Sturridge tells of his routine - which consisted of him pressing his suit and hanging it in the back of his car in readiness should he get a late call about a move and need to appear presentable. Do let us know if you spot a footballer with a three-piece dangling in the car window won't you? Only don't text and drive, now, it's illegal and could lead to you sending your latest transfer gossip to the mother-in-law by mistake. No-one wants that."

From bbc:

1007: Magnificent. My favourite rumour of the day by a mile: Arsenal are linked in some quarters with a move for AC Milan's fearsome midfield general Gennaro Gattuso. Does the fact that his wife's Scottish make the move more likely?

wouldnt that move ''kill'' Song? I think he would be a fucking great signing!

Gattuso is 31 so wouldn't "kill" Song, in so much as he might hold him up for a year or so. Besides, in games like Man U, Chelsea etc, Song and Gattuso would really strengthen the midfield if played together. An excellent signing, if it were to happen :barscarf:

1054: American midfielder Freddy Adu is moving from Benfica to smaller Portuguese rival Belenenses. Oh how the (predicted to be) mighty have fallen. Meanwhile, I've just heard a rumour that Liverpool's Andriy Voronin is moving to Arsenal. That's a corker.

From Anon, via text on 81111: "I work for Fulham FC. The loan signing of Carlos Vela from Arsenal until the end of the season will be announced shortly. Have to remain anonymous I'm afraid!"
