Arsenal Fans wrong to drive away Adebayor?
Arsenal Fans wrong to drive away Adebayor?
Well Arsenal has sold their best striker and has failed to replace him. Yes he may have flirted with Barcelona/milan like Cesc, but was it right for the fans to drive him away?
Is Arsenal stronger without him? Surely not. They haven`t replaced him with Huntelaar so average strikers like VanP and Bendtner cannot fill his shoes. Eduardo is quality but physically weak and injury prone.
So did Arsenal fans shoot themselves in the foot? Time will tell. Now that we have Arsha, the new Pires, we need a new Titi, surely VanP and Brendtner will never give us 30 goals like Ade, so its not looking good.
Even if We sign Chamakh in january, he cannot fill Ade`s shoes.
So did Arsenal fans made the biggest mistake in history by not giving Ade the love they give Cesc?(though Cesc flirted too).

greedy
its hard to believe you think the fans may of shot themselves in the foot. the man is nothing but a mercenary. he is the one who has manipulated the move. i personally think we got lucky in getting an over inflated price for a very average player. i cant think of any top sides apart from city who would take on a player with that sort of attitude. will his goals be missed im not sure, will we miss his contribution to our club, absolutely not. the bloke was a disgrace.

What total *****!
Does anyone truly believe that the fans have the power to drive out players that are not liked as much as others?
If that was the case I would suggest that certain players such as Eboue would have been out the door long ago.
The simple truth is this. Adebayor used our club as a stepping stone to raise his own personal profile and also the figure on his payslip.
Most, if not all, Arsenal fans liked Adebayor for the first few seasons but he lost a lot of respect when he gave contradicting statements in interviews only half hour apart. After the one good season he had he wanted out believeing that his services and ego were now more suited to a giant such as AC Milan or Barcelona. Arsenal was no longer a big enough club for a guy of limited ability from Togo who had enjoyed one decent season scoring 30 odd goals. A better finisher would have had 40 something in that term as he also missed chance after chance laid on a plate for him by a side that was in full flow.
Adebayor is a mercenary liar who not only tried to mug us off like pricks by claiming his mobile was off all summer but by also kissing the badge when all he wanted was out and a bigger salary. His attitude last season stunk and his body language was indicative of what he thought of his team and us, he couldn't give a flying fuck.
Please stop trying to defend the actions of this ungrateful, deceitful and disloyal wanker and ask yourself a question. Why would we all dislike a player that was scoring goals on a regular basis for us if his conduct towards the club and the supporters was acceptable?
The simple answer is we wouldn't have and we would still be chanting that fucking idiotic song!
One person is responsible for the venom directed at Adebayor and that is the mercenary *word censored* himself.

You sound like Ade's agent! because seriously, do you really not see a MASSIVE difference in the behaviour of Ade and Cesc??GUNNERRRZ wrote: So did Arsenal fans made the biggest mistake in history by not giving Ade the love they give Cesc?(though Cesc flirted too).

Anyway, I agree in part that a section of the fans should take a portion of the blame, but at the end of the day it's down to Ade. It was his choices that put him in that position, and his lack of application and effort made a bad situation worse. He basically turned the fans against himself by acting like a crunt both on and off the pitch... which is quite a talent, really!

Maybe I am outdated but I grew up in an era where players were proud to play for a club like ours and regardless of any other misdemeanors they had along the way they still never forgot how lucky they were. Now we had a greedy mercenary bastard who had one decent (not outstanding) season and he felt that he was the greatest player ever and deserving treatment and wages akin to what henry got after several seasons of effort, commitment and tons of goals
The greatest bit of business this club has ever done is getting 25m for that judas *word censored* and as has already been stated it is my believe that he got away very light from the fans.......must be something to do with the opinions of jcl's like yourself who look only at goals and not effort and commitment

Yes, he deserved a fucking lynching, not abuse from a small section of the crowd. I honestly think I heard more positive Adebayor chants than negative ones. I'd also like to confirm that I never sang the *word censored* name once.franksav63 wrote:When you consider the 'performances' this lazy bastard put in for us last season, he got off very lightly indeed, from abuse from our fans.
This is now put into perspective when you see how he has started the season for Man City, not only scoring goals, but actually looking like he is trying.

Difficult to disagree with a single word of that. I think the words 'nail' and 'head' are in there somewhere.Percy Dalton wrote:What total *****!

Re: Arsenal Fans wrong to drive away Adebayor?
But if you emember he only scored 16 goals in 38 appearances last season in all competitions. Its all to easy to remember 1 good season and if thats your base to judge a good player god forbid how many we have had at the club in previous years ?GUNNERRRZ wrote:Well Arsenal has sold their best striker and has failed to replace him. Can you point to any interview Cesc made directly to camera saying i want to go to Barce, i think you will find the opposite, he has always said he is commited to the club. I dont think any of us are stupid to believe that one day he will go. Cesc though gives his all in games unlike the mercenary twat who left. You only have to watch Ade against the mancs in the cl to see what he can be like, and why fans vent their anger.
I for one am happy he is gone, Eboue should be applauded for the way he has come back a fought for the team and turned it around, if Ade had that much love for the club then maybe he would be scoreing 30+ goals a season and although he has got of to a good start it wont be long before he reverts to type.
Well said Percy matePercy Dalton wrote:What total *****!
