What makes you say that? Im pretty sure Juventus thought they werent going to get demoted and look what happened there. Different authority though (probably) But still. Oh, and the situation is very different from tapping up a player; this player has been signed while still under contract, and the rules are very clear on this point, so the punishment is very much in proportion. Dont get me wrong, i do think theres a very real chance that they may have some wriggle room here; im guess that their main point of attack may be the standing in law of french training contracts; all should become clear in the next few days, so untill then, sit back, relax, have a few beers and piss yourself with laughter at the incompetence of Darth Kenyon & Co.

Excisting players can renew contracts but with an already ageing squad this could get interesting.

Also this doesn't stop other teams purchasing Chelsea players. So they'll be desparate to keep hold of players for the next 2 seasons as they can't replace.
