greatest player ever my balls! he was not half a pelé.

and yes, it was delicious to score 3 at argentina. brazil was on massive hangover on sunday... it was bloody brilliant, we had late carnaval! and this brazilian national team is one of the weakest offensive-wise of the last few decades. it is kaka and a few other half-good players (don't mention luis fabiano, i don't know what happened to him, he was never that good) against a strong argentina squad with tevez, messi, maxi...

it looks like he'll be kicked out in no time...

George Best
Pele
Dennis Berkamp
Johan Cruyft
Thierry Henry
Puskas
Di Steffano

to name just a few.

Total and utter bollocks.

In what way would you say they are inferior players?

Don't analyse the whole list. Just give me your opinions on Puskas and Di Steffano.

In over 40 years of watching football i would only put Pele above Maradona. Then take your pick out of Zidane,Cruyff,Best and Beckenbauer. Not one English player has even got close to them

As others have said the "Hand of God" was 23 years ago.FFS why cant the English let it go and move on.The English seem to have forgotten the two Owen dives v Argentina since then

He won the world cup "single handed" if you can pardon the punn, and the seire A with Napoli, when it was the best league in Europe. And he did both with teams full of average players.
I bet you would find it hard to name 3 other players from that Argentinian world cup team, off the top of your head (or with your hand if you like  ). How many world cup winning sides can you say that about. 8)

ayyyyy! Napoli was one the most expensive sides put together in their time and argentina had the strongest squad in the world yet apart from some cheating and a wonder goal we still should have beaten them and lineker missed a sitter at the end to equalise.

Don't mind you irishmen getting on the hate everyting english (apart from supporting one of their club sides  ) but for fek sake lads get your FACTS right, talking of FACTS no one can say who was the best player in the world, its technically impossible

Everyone is also forgetting eusabio and Zico (the best free kick taker in the business) was as every inch as good and influential in the eighties as maradonna imo.

And anyway the best player int the world ever will be ronaldo in a couple of years time. again imo.

With all due respect I remember the world cup game very well, and England were played off the park, it would have been a travesty had Argentina not won.
And as for Ronaldo becoming the best ever "you jest surely"

As much as I would find it funny if the Argies didn't make it to the World Cup it would be a shame not to see the likes of Messi and Aguero there.

The World Cup is about showcasing the World's best players so there would definitely be something missing if they didn't make it.

That said it it is one good team out of the way so it may help us progress (probably to the quarter-finals, where we will lose on penalties...again)

sorry mate, but you are completely wrong. the world cup is about only one thing: watching the histerical look in argentinians crying like babies 'cause they lost again.

just like the premiership only exists for us to watch spuds fans crying because they'll never win it.

if argentina do not qualify, i'll be the happiest fella ever. considering we're winning the treble, obviously. :barscarf:

and stop that 'maradona is the best ever' shit at once, for christ sake. download some pele movies (there are lots of them, most only in portuguese though) and you'll see who the man was. almost a dennis bergkamp
