Arn't they our best friends

Yesterday I was told first of all. "you can take photo's but not film the whole game"

(I was only taking photos)

And later

"ok thats enough, no more photo's, your not supposed to be allowed to take them"

So i continued to take photo's, and took one of them.

Now i had paid £66 to watch yesterdays game, and I have a right to take photo's. Im not selling them, nor am i broadcasting rival video to the rest of the world.

Next I will be told "you can come to the game, but you are not allowed to watch all of it, but only watch five mins, and listen to the rest"

arsenal gone mad

Sounds a bit extreme. Although last night I noticed a few new stewards. Maybe it's just one bad apple, the fella round ours in fine.

Does anybody know what the official line is on photography in the ground.
I am a keen amatuer photographer (I'd be even more keen if the wife would allow it  ) and as such my camera is a digital SLR. It is quite a hefty thing and very expensive. My worry is that I will not be allowed to take it into the ground and will miss the game and lose what I paid for the ticket. Any ideas anyone

i would imagine there has to be some provision to store the camera somewhere for post-match pick up. but as this would involve a special steward coming to accompany you to wherever they store these things, then i can foresee a 15 minute process and you missing a good deal of the match. you are simply not allowed to take high quality images with a zoon lens inside the ground during matches, as the club are heavy on unlicenced use of match pics.

even worse, they might not let you in at all. i would not even chance taking it.

mind you if you can get one in and sit in the upper tier above the entrances you might get away with it. downstairs you would be too visible.

I find supporters taking lots of photos during the game a distraction. A couple of pics is ok, but just watch the game?!

My camera is a hybrid with a 12x zoom lens. I managed to sneak it in ok, and have twice before got into the stadium without anyone on the gates even looking in my backpack (bit crap as a security measure!). All i did was walk through and they didn't even seem to notice the bag on my back

The no photo's policy is their just like you are not allowed to take photo's or film at a concert because of licensing reasons.

Just leave your stupid camera at home and watch the game like a normol fan. If you wanna watch it over again - then wait for Match Of The Day!

There is a new breed of fans at Arsenal over the last few years that treat the ground and match like its a tourist attraction.

I think you are being a bit harsh. What's wrong with taking a few photos during the game? Doesn't mean you aren't "normal"!

Yea, I normally get a pic or two before the game on my mobile to use as a wallpaper. No doubt first match my lad goes to with me I'll want a pic, other than that don't see why you'd want to photograph the match!
I have seen stewards taking pics of dads and their kids tho. So it can't be all Stewards.

I took pictures when I first went too. In fact I have one taken of my favourite player at the time from the standing junior gunners enclosure blown up which I later got signed by him. That was 17 years ago.

Talking a few pics on your mobile is cool or a little digital camera...but ive seen people go to the match with big foot long lenses or camcordas.

Why??

I had a bloke infront of me for eindhoven - and he keeps holding up his digital camera right in front of me. once or twice i dont mind, but continulaly through the game. I couldnt help but look to see what was being bought into my site line, even when i knew what it was and was trying to ignore it!

The best / worst part was that I am lucky enough to be 10 rows from a TV camera, so all of what he was taking still pictures of was being boradcast to hwo many millions?

Good point Gooneroonie! Ban excessive taking of photos! I dont have a problem with one or two, but a stack load of rubbish pics from a pathetic mobile that will never be printed or seen? I think not!

The idea of a big camera is that you can get much better quality pictures. When i have taken cameras, I dont take many, but a few good quality pictures. I have a lovely one from the end of the Dennis testimonial, with Viera and Thierry holding him up and everyone was celebrating around him (taken from west upper), and a good Viera picture from Family block, nice and close as he sent a pass across.

But if i took pictures all game 95% would be rubbish and i wouldnt watch the game at all. I try to make sure I dont block other peoples views or distract anyone. Anyone taking a camcorder must be mental. It would be better to record either highlights, or even the entire game. Better picture quality, better angles, and you get to enjoy the game itself. I think someone else said that on this thread too :)

Dicko,
Kept meaning to ask you, who was that fine figure of a man in your photo?
