Dont hold your breath. His stubborness has got us where we are now.If he was at any other top club in Europe he would have been out on his ear after 4 trophyless seasons.

thats just it you ignorant prick,HE is the reason WE are a top club in europe!!!

if he had achieved that at any other mediocre to good club the likes of villa, everton, newcastle then etc etc they would also be loyal and gratefull to him!!

im fed up of our so called fans taking it for granted how good we are now and our standing as one of the best teams in world football!

granted if he had taken over at a madrid, barca or milan and hadnt won a trophy in 4 yrs he wud be out but he isnt he is at arsenal and this is his club and he deserves respect for what hes done to this club and as long as were challengin im happy!

sorry your not a prick i just got angry  [/b]

[quote="g88ner"]I'd have no problem with Mourinho as manager, because I think he's outstanding.

But, he's the highest paid person in Italian football (and that includes players) earning £8m a year (apparently) so it would seem highly unlikely that he would become Arsenal manager unless there was a huge change at the club.

I thought Adebayors comments the other day were a little worrying...

“Arsenal forced me out,â€

Perhaps, but I would imagine most established top managers (Fergie, Ancelotti, Hiddink, Capello, Mourinho, etc.) are on that, or more.

It all depends on money, and whether we have pots of it to spend or not... so my point really was that most top managers would probably not put their reputations on the line to take over a club where the board demand a profit every season.... assuming that's the case, of course. (or is Wenger doing that because he enjoys it?)

Hiddink, Mourinho, etc. are probably so in demand that they can pick and choose the club they join, and with the amount of money floating around at other clubs, Arsenal may not be top of their list.

I'm sure we could attract the second tier managers such as O'Neill, Ranieri, Spalletti, etc. or go for a younger, talented manager, who has fallen under many people's radar... much like Wenger, Fergie and Mourinho before their big breaks. Of course, finding that manager is the tricky part!

I suppose my point is that I'm sure someone is out there who can really take this club forward, BUT if money is tight, it may be that Wenger is the best around for the job.

So, as I touched on earlier, our level of expectation from Wenger should really depend on how much he as to spend. Is he making money for the board because he HAS to, or because he WANTS to?! :? - that, for me, is the crux of the matter and helps clarify whether Wenger is doing an amazing job on limited funds, or is hell bent on gaining success and make a profit as part of his "experiment" :? - sadly, we don't seem to know, do we? :(

Yeah great examples those two. Same Newcastle fans who wanted Bobby Robson out not long after he got them into the Champions League and Villa fans who were pouring onto the radio stations moaning at the end of last year when O'Neill got them their highest finish in years (and booed them off the park on more than one occasion last year when still in the top 4). If you think fans at other clubs are more grateful than our own you need to think again.

Liverpool fans regularly get stuck into Benitez and he won them the fucking biggest prize of the lot at the first time of asking

We are not a top club in Europe because of Wenger - what an absolute pile of shite that comment is. We were the biggest club in Europe's biggest city long before he came to town. We've won 2 European trophies - neither of them during his reign. He now lives in an age where 4th place ensures you qualify for the European Cup.

Sure, we'd fallen on barren times before Wenger came along but so was the case before Bertie Mee and George Graham - in fact we were in a worse state when GG took the reigns after the Don Howe era when a top eight finish was something to celebrate and two goals in a match was the height of entertainment.

Filled with kneejerk "the sky is falling" diatribes.

Just skimming through this forum and the Arsenal Facebook group, it just seems to me that there's more intelligent, rational post match analysis and discussion on the Facebook group and I never thought I'd ever hear myself use the words Facebook and "intelligent discussion" in the same sentence.

You soon learn which posters are worth reading, and which aren't.

I good example is Augie, who has pretty extreme negative views, but I respect his view because its not knee jerk (he's been miserable since I joined 18months back!  ) and is in fact pretty reasonable and not always easy to disagree with, to be honest.

At the other extreme is ****, who is a great chap but his opinions on Arsenal should be taken with a HUGE pinch of salt, as his stance changes as often as he changes his underwear (according to Flash  )

There's many other very good posters, but you'll have to work that out for yourself!

(I'll give you a clue, though... I'm a good poster :D :barscarf: )

The buzz word appears to be 'project' actually. That's what we've become now - a project. That's just as well because very rarely have I met a project manager that I've liked
