Dublin Bars

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

You're welcome, lads. Dublin's like any other major city; if you avoid the worst areas and keep your wits about you, you should have no problems! 8)

Your wallets, on the other hand, is in for a right pounding! :(

Footnote; Most Dubliners like the English. That's why the culchie muck savages call us Jackeens and West Brits. I take the view that we are better educated and more cosmopolitan, thus less xenophobic and not inbred!!

But We can be a fickle lot... so don't act all Billy Big Bollocks in a pub after a few beers because someone will take offence and issue forth with what we like to call "a slap"...

You'll be fine. Have fun! :barscarf:

There used to be one in Moore street but it was a real shithole, with lots of local gangsters (proper gun carrying gangsters, not Deaje type schoolboy wannabes) and they finally closed it down after a couple of stabbings.

While Dublin is a relatively friendly and fun city it is also a city with some seriously dangerous areas in it. And unfortunately we do still have a minority of brainless yobs that "hate the English" in some areas. A minority, but they also tend to be the most dangerous crunts, unfortunately.

In the city centre avoid; Sherrif Street, Summerhill, Parnell Street and The Liberties area. Further out avoid; Tallaght, Clondalkin, Neilstown, Darndale, Dolphins Barn and Ballymun in general.

Finglas has a bad rep but is mostly ok, still I'd avoid the Scribblestown Lane area, which is known locally as "Murder Alley".

I work in Abbey Street Upper and they've opened a methadone clinic down the street so alot of junkies linger around here. It is also a main stop on the LUAS Tram route out to Tallaght so I'd avoid it after dark if you can, as it gets fairly tasty.

As far as where to drink; the southside/tourist areas are dear as fuck but tend to be safer with better looking women! Temple Bar is where most tourists and stag/hen parties go and there are some cool bars there. Here's a link;

Oh and avoid The George pub in South Great Georges Street!! It's a gay bar. Unless you are a bit Flash...?
mate, do you live in brazil???

DB10, do you like a Guinness?

It's been my tipple for years and I remember in days gone by people saying, 'oh wait till you've tasted a pint in Ireland, it's so much better than what we get over here'

Any truth in that? At 6 Euros a pint you'd hope it was good.

Mind you, The Bank of Friendship does a mean pint.

Depends on the boozer. Most pubs do sell a particularly fine pint of the black stuff because the Guinness reps are real serious about the quality in the pubs. But I've heard Irish mates say they've had excellent Guinness in England too...

I'm more an ale man meself tbh.

I've only been to Dublin once, a few years ago, and got lobbed out of a pub for giving my boxers to this fine looking bird in a hen party, it would have been rude not too...
