MANCHESTER UNITED want Manu Adebayor banned for his stamp on Robin van Persie.
The FA is today set to charge the Manchester City star for the Van Persie incident and goal celebration in front of Arsenal fans.
United's management are urging the FA to act so Adebayor misses Sunday's derby at Old Trafford. He could be banned for a total of six games if charged and found guilty.
United boss Alex Ferguson will be without Paul Scholes against City after he was sent off for two bookings at Tottenham.
Fergie felt Scholes had been sent off because of his reputation. He said: "I am not getting into whether or not a player should have been sent off.
"Inconsistency and decision-making is part of the game, what makes it interesting."
And SunSport has learned City were warned about Adebayor's behaviour BEFORE Saturday's powder-keg clash at Eastlands.
Ref Mark Clattenberg spoke to City captain Kolo Toure and coach Mark Bowen about the striker before kick-off and that could count against Adebayor.
Police also want FA bosses to throw the book at Adebayor.
Former Met Police commander John O'Connor said: "I am sure the police will want Adebayor to be made an example of.
"From a police perspective, Adebayor could have been arrested and then charged with actual body harm for the incident with Van Persie. He would then have faced the prospect of standing trial in court."
City boss Mark Hughes rapped: "The referee had a great view of the challenge and deemed it not worthy of a card." :redcard: :redcard:
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore admitted: "These instances don't do the image of the league or football in general any good."

Wenger - You deserved it Ade

He said: "My thought is that Emmanuel Adebayor deserves to be charged for what he did.
"But I was surprised that there was such animosity in his attitude towards Arsenal because in a few years he will realise that Arsenal has been great for him.
"That is why I was deeply surprised and shocked."

The Gunners boss added: "Only he can say if he will regret leaving.
"All I can say is that is life and professional football players move on.
"In life, the goal is to be objective enough in seeing who helped you and who didn't help you, who had a positive influence on you or not.
"You can sometimes be disappointed in the short term.
"But still I believe that when you take distance with the events, you always get to the right judgement. I think the longer distance will make Adebayor realise that Arsenal was a very positive influence in his life."

About the stamp on van Persie

Wenger said: “Did you watch it? If you’ve watched football for 20 years, you know as well as me what a player can do. You can ease off or not ease off. The biggest thing is in a challenge.

“I played football and I know exactly, in a fraction of a second, where you leave in or move out. You know exactly at that fraction, I can injure somebody or I can not injure somebody, and you ease off or you leave in. I have seen some challenges where if you do that in the street, you go to jail. It [the challenge on Van Persie] looks very bad. You ask 100 people, 99 will say it’s very bad and the hundredth will be Mark Hughes.”

Van Persie misses Arsenal’s Champions League match against Standard Liège in Belgium this evening, not because of the facial cut he sustained from Adebayor’s studs, but because of a knee problem.

Wenger agreed with Van Persie’s post-match comments, which, despite their direct nature, were posted on the official Arsenal website. “Of course I back him,” the manager said. “In football, everybody is free to have an opinion. If somebody stamps on your head in that way, you wouldn’t say: ‘Thank you very much. Can I turn the other cheek?’ Only Jesus Christ did that.”

On the day when he was hit by two FA charges, Emmanuel Adebayor mimicked his controversial celebration in training.

The Manchester City star, who taunted Arsenal fans by racing down the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of them in Manchester City's crushing 4-2 victory on Saturday, was all smiles despite his current woes.

Adebayor is facing a ban of at least three matches after being charged for his apparent stamp on Robin van Persie, as well as his reaction after scoring.

But he was laughing and joking in training on Tuesday as City prepared for the Manchester derby with rivals United.

And onlookers were taken aback when Adebayor decided to mark one of his goals with a similar celebration to the one that rattled the Gunners fans.

After hitting the net in the crossing and heading drills, Adebayor raced 20 yards before sliding along on his knees with a huge smile on his face.

He'll have plenty more time to practise the move if the FA ban him...

I hope the FA take that photo into account when deciding on the improper conduct charge as obviously Barndoor does not take the fact that he has been charged seriously.

Accepted, he is a total crunt, but that photo is probably taken out of context (daily mail?  ). It could be from last week, or he could be photographed in the middle of doing something else entirely. The press use photos this way all the time.

Still, anything bad that happens to that prize prick is good for the game and, indeed, humanity! :-P

Ade-Barndoor doesn't give a flying f**k what punishment he gets because he plays for himself and these pictures prove it.

And (more importantly) he will only get a piddling fine so he will be able to have a nice rest and still trouser £25,000 a day - which is why he doesn't give a flying f**k!!

How long does it take any of us to earn that????

As you can see all he needed was "love". And he didn't get it from The Gunners :P.
