When was the last time...

we played badly and won?

I honestly can't remember. We're very good a playing well and not winning but other teams seem to be able to play badly and get good results.

United and Chelsea yesterday are the prime examples of this, both 1-0 down but yet you knew they'd both win no matter how they played.

Contrast that to us these days. If we go 1-0 down it's only a question of how many we'll get done by.

Its the sign of champions playing badly but still going home with 3 points, It also seems however well we play we are always going to concede one, everton and celtic are examples.

I think that this conception about playing badly and winning is misunderstood slightly.

Manu and chelsea are far better teams than us and its not down to luck that they win games in the last minute or when it seems they are playing badly.

Its just that when teams go all out to suppress them the game gets disjointed and less fluent than they would like, but they have that extra fire power, skill, determination, tactical awareness to get the all important goal.

Some teams do exactly the same to us but we don't have that extra edge, like i have said many times before its not luck it's just that they are better than us.

god once said, and i remember that interview, that winning or not winning the premiership is down to if you at least draw in the games you play badly. and that arsenal team sometimes won matches playing badly. when we remember our great teams (imo the 01/02 was the best) we have only good memories, but truth is, that team played badly sometimes as well. and still, draw or won.
simple as that.
and when god db10 says something, i believe in him.

That's it, this team can not roll up it's sleeves and win ugly, it can't grind out a win, it can either play a team of the park or it will get hammered and bullied when opponents get their game plan right.

For what it's worth I don't think they were that bad on Sat, it could have easily been 4-4 but the game was lost when slack players performed in a slack way at crucial points and you can't always use bad luck as an excuse, the actual game has been lost by the emotion from the events of the day.

This won't change untill the manager grows the balls to drop players that are simply not performing to the level that they should be.

In my opinion, the last time we played badly and won was the 2005 FA Cup final against Utd...

I dont think we have ever played that badly in a final and won - albeit on penalties

The thing is though, it’s is not just the clubs that are better than us that some times win when they play poorly, other teams do it as well but we NEVER seem to do it. If Arsenal play badly we always lose (or draw against the poor teams).

It seems psychological to me. Some people think we are an unlucky team but we can’t be as unlucky as it some times appears. Until we learn how to get more out of these games we won’t be contenders.

BDB, Standard Liege are fucking shit, they play in shit league, and they tore us apart in the 1st half.

We were lucky to get the win, and half our players got found out tonight, through their obvious lack of ability, some couldn't pass the ball 5 yards to a team mate, or miscontrolled the easiest of passes.

These same players thought they were going to have a cake walk, they showed their true colours I'm afraid to say.
