As a fellow rosetinter, may I please ask you to shut the fuck up with the gloating as you're giving all us optimists a bad name.

Would have taken a draw before the game, great to see the team battle back from a disastrous start though would rather we hadn't had to win while playing poor, teams have to do that sometimes, good that we have halted our run of defeats for now.

Postives:
1) Gallas's clearances were poor but he swept up well... usually
2) Vermlan was solid
3) We defended crosses well and after five minutes, how many shots did they have to test Mannoe? 1?
4) Mannoe should have done better with first goal but at least was confident to sweep off his line.
5) Rosicky, grew into the game and showed glimpses of what we have missed while he has been injured
6) Nic, scored a goal and held ball up well, lacked support too often
7) Lots of possession
8 ) Eboue as a defender did well, made two vital interceptions, one late in first half and the one he steered a cross over his own bar.

Negatives:

1) Eboue on the ball, sloppy for most of the game.
2) Clichy, made two vital blocks but sloppy on and off ball most of the game, one has to wonder why his deputies are never picked
3) The disastrous start. Compounded by needing 20 minutes to find our feet, expect more leadership from Gallas, Rosicky and Vermalen to rally things
4) Being so slow, narrow and toothless in second half
5) Diaby, one moment of quality does not disguise a dreadful performance
6) Song. Great when we are 0-0 or holding a lead, absolutely useless if we are behind
7) Cesc, awful set peices, slow and ponderous on ball, hopefully once he is match fit he will have more to his game.
8 ) Eduardo, poacher's goal after putting us 1-0 down with a dreadful backheel and a poor performance

i've already posted this, but you all seem to forget:

god once said, and i remember the interview, that winning trophies is not about what happens when you play very well, simply because you win most of the games where you play very well. you win trophies when you still manages to get points even when you play below par. and that's what happened today.

we were without 9 first teamers, playing in an UCL game away from home against a team who knocked last seasons' everton out of the europa league and made liverpool sweat for a victory. and here we come home, with 3 points.

i'm not delighted, but i'm happy.

Seriously though this team is embarrassing and of that there is no doubt
Diaby, song and bedtner are not and never will be Arsenal quality, cesc is playing absolute shite and looks totally disinterested and the tactics and team selections/substitutions are a fcuking disgrace
Fine we came back and won but this is against liege ffs  Some football fans sicken my arse slating leagues like the scottish league when it suits them yet talk up the likes of liege who play in the belgian league which is certainly no better  Lets be honest here....liege are an average team playing in an average league and we should be pissing all over them and yet we cant even do that. I applaud the fact that we never gave up tonight but guts and spirit will only get you so far and playing against a better team from a better league (the portugese league for example) we would have left there tonight with sweet fcuk all

Agree. TV5 second goal was unbelievable. But we'll take it and move on especially as you said the amount of bad luck we have had

By the way bedtners drinking buddy, seeing as your own thread was locked down and I couldnt reply on that, I would just like to point out that at no stage did I post any moaning on your stupid fcuking thread so before you single me out by name again I would suggest you read the fcuking responses

While I have to agree that the few of the aforementioned players are of standards that are lacking; I'd like to think about the results more. We managed a win, and it's all about that. We can focus on the next task as this one have been completed with success (though it would've been better if we managed a more convincing victory eg. cleans sheets).

Many a times, Man Utd plays poorly, but manages to get away with a winner of a scrappy goal in the dying minutes. Results are all that matters.

Don't get me wrong though; the idea of strengthening our squad is always a welcome change but we have to live with what we have right now; and we have a win and a positive development into the CL. Cheers mates.

You may have taken a draw against a Belguim club side but I think the restof us expected a convincing win!

Liverpool only won 1-0 against Debreceni at Anfield.
Chelsea won 1-0 against Porto at home.
MU won 1-0 against Beşiktaş at Istanbul.
I dont think we can complain about the result .. Standard de Liege isn't that bad.

Well I've calmed down a bit now so here are my thoughts:

We won - great. Always remember at the beginning of our CL adventures when we used to hammer sides and then they got a lucky late draw/win (Lens Away always haunts me)

We need players back from injury - like quickly.

I think all the players are suffering from a lack of confidence at the moment - some of this caused by the fans but most worryingly caused by a lack of belief (whatever Wenger says)

And finally, how much have we missed Rosicky? Quality

We already managed better in one game then Liverpool managed in 180 minutes. We have done something no team has done competitively for 15 games, Liege are a decent young side

We still played badly but we shouldn't dismiss other sides in the CL so easily

Agreed - saw a couple of their players who looked like possible signings. Anyone think the guy who scored against us would be better than Diaby?
