I mentioned you as I knew you'd post something negative about the game, and by the looks of it, you have! 8)

augie wrote:Seriously people can we stop talking about liege like they are an upcoming ac milan or barcelona ? Referring their results with victims fc is the same as referring the scousers results v stoke last season and does not mean for 1 nano second that they are a good team. Again I will question how people can mock the scottish league and not the belgian league especially when you consider that the scots have had 2 teams play in european finals this decade and fcuk knows how long it is since the belgians have had any team in a european final
I also think we mock the Scottish CL teams a bit too much as well. Liege away is not a "Man U would win 6-0 tie" and people get into a nasty habit of underestimating the opposition if they aren't a big name

Don't think you understand.

I think of a word. a collective word which we all think at the same time when a player has the ball.
Unless your word is "Own goal" when diaby has the ball? :?: :?

Augie. that post is spot on

I'd rather be a realist that a deluded fool - even if that does mean i disagree with the club from time to time (or quite frequently as of late)

Swale_Gooner1985 wrote:I thought we were poor tonight, our passing was well off, we couldnt really get going, the dreadful start didnt help that, it was a mad 5 minutes!

The fact is we came back and won and we can be grateful for that, a top class first goal from Bendtner after good work from Diaby

The second goal was very strange but we have had plenty of things go against us so i will take this slice of luck, and a decent third goal.

Thought Fabregas was below par AGAIN it annoys me so much that he takes all the set pieces as 9 times out of 10 they are really, really poor, his passing is off cue as well!

Thought Clichy was ery poor again, apart from the last minute tackle, not sure whats happened to him, making silly passes and getting caught out all over the pitch

Song has a poor game, which is a shame as he has had a run of excellent matches from last season to this one, but everyone is entitled to a bad day

Diaby was ...well.... Diaby...a strange bloke isnt he, does something superb and then acts like he hasnt played football before!

Apart from that thought we lacked something tonight and still got the win, and remember we had a lot of players missing so at the end of the day it was a good result! Also Rosicky played well, which is great to see him back!

:barscarf:
This is without doubt the best balanced and most realistic post you have ever written on here. Well done Swaley!! 8) :barscarf: :barscarf:

Some interesting points of view on the game. Firstly it wouldn't be one of my posts without pointing out the hilarity of one of AW's post match comments:

"What happened in the first five minutes could have happened to any team in the world"

OK then, I'll be looking out for Liege's 2-0 lead against Barcelona, Man Utd or Chelsea when they next meet. "Any team in the world" doesn't happen to try an outside of the heel flick on the edge of their own area, nor do they have a headcase Ivorian full back who gifts the opponents the ball on the half way line exposing his entire back line 2 minutes later. So that's that sorted

However, on the plus side I was still pleasantly surprised to see the turnaround. Given the events of the last 2 games it would have been easy to feel sorry for ourselves, let the heads drop and fuck it up completely. TV5 is emerging as a real leader of men at the back, and as for those who slate Diaby endlessly regardless of what he actually does......yet again when playing in central midfield he produced a piece of magic to create that first goal. No one else in our team could have produced the turn, change of pace and pass in that speed (not Arshavin, Cesc, Walcott or any of the other 'can do no wrong brigade'). Give the guy a fucking break and judge him after 20 games in his proper position (not the converted left sider that AW continually tries to turn him into)

Great post Steve, agree with most of what you say but Diaby has got a lot to do to convince me that long term he will turn into a consistent quality player. Last night's run and set up for the first was very like his brilliant run at Villa. Just so frustrating that he doesn't appear to have much of a footballing brain most of the time. At the moment he just doesn't know when to pass and when to take it on. So for me (as the pundits always say) he's still a long way off being the quality player in the centre to replace Cesc when he goes next summer.
