Maybe I am wrong but in my time on this forum I cannot recall a match thread being only 5 pages long at this stage :o I know more pages will add on as more fans come on to give their ratings but this thread is well below the normal amount of comments (I think the liege or citeeh thread was at 26 pages when I last checked). Is the lack of comments a sign of apathy or resignation amongst the fans ? Fcuk knows but the atmosphere at the match today seemed especially poor on the telly and fat dolan remarked afterwards that fans have seen all this false dawn shit with this team before and there is a lack of confidence from the fans in the team

augie, I think the lack of posts on this thread and also the lack of atmosphere is due to us fans expecting to beat Wigan comfortably and so therefore nothing to get overly excited about. Admittedly we have slipped up in the past against so called home bankers but did anyone really think that we would take anything but all three points today? We could have won 10-0 but after two defeats against teams that will actually be challenging us for Champions League places, todays win means little more than three points. On a positive note we managed to keep a clean sheet 8)

I cant make my mind up today. We didnt play great yet won 4-0 and we missed a hatful as well. And the defence did look shaky when Wigan did come out of their half.I thought our best two players once again were TV and Gallas.Cesc was lacklustre. Weird game

As for the atmosphere it was worse than ever. There seemed more day trippers there today than usual.

Just want to say that I haven't posted this afternoon because I was, y'know, at the game...

The atmosphere was indeed poor, and the first half was very lethargic both on and off the pitch. However, we picked up the pace in the second half, and cruised to a really good win.

Back in the GG days a 4-0 victory would've been really appreciated, so the fact that it isn't now is a testament to all that AW has done at the club. In several years time, when Wenger has finally gone, we'll be looking back on 'easy' 4-0 wins like this with the same fondness that we look back on at the 49ers with now.

Or is it a sign of people actually enjoying the game??

A great win against a side, that in all honesty we should beat 3 or 4 nil.

Im glad the fabregas point was raised above because i think he has been well under par for ages now. The team did well and done the job, nothing more, nothing less.

God you moan an awful lot!

The atmosphere at these sorts of games is pretty usual these days. Not sure what can be done, I don't think the teams style helps much. Whereas teams in the past have excited using pace, this team are technical, try and dominate possesion and almost try and tire the opposition out by making them chase the ball a lot.

Theo is hardly the best player we've got but when he gets running there is a buzz around the ground, the same with Arshavin because he is direct and is capable of something out of nothing. Our general patient approach just doesn't inspire.

The lack of good songs is a major issue as well (plus the day trippers obviously).

Anyway, thought Wigan would have more of a go today but we were comfortable most the time. We still look like a shambles at the back at first sign of any danger but going forward I though Eddie's movement was good, particuarly second half.

can say what you want about the daytrippers but remember there are 40000 season tickets holders out of 57000

I normally make a point of not posting after a match as this place tends to be a busy hive of positive and negative post. Today well like the game it was quiet.
The regulars gave it they all but to make a point and as already mentioned. Tons of day trippers!
Both seats either side of mine were filled with new faces, plus the seat either side of them!
What made it worse was Wigan choose to kick the opposite way from our traditional.
So the 2nd half which is normally to the North (bank) was being played in front of all the Junior Gunners.
Wigan bringing 10 fans plus some mates didn't help.

Yep, very weird day out. 4-0 but all the excitement of a middle of the league, end of season game. I think the reason is that we all turn up knowing we will nearly always win this type of game whereas the 2 trips to Manchester prove that against the better sides we might struggle this season.

Vermaalen continues to impress. Future captain when Cesc (another strange performance) leaves next summer. Eboue was close to being the best player today. But it was only Wigan! Their fans must have travelled in 3 Ford Fiestas!!

Wigans support was embarrasing, although they did make me chuckle when they started getting a bit lairy! They were shit, but although we won 4-0 our defence still looked shaky, especially in the last 10 of the first half. If or when Gallas or Vermaelen get injured/suspended then i fear the worst!

Apart from my pointing out the obvious re how shit the atmosphere was can you tell me where else I moaned ? :? I asked questions re the lack of posts on this thread and also why the match atmosphere today was especially bad cos I am interested in what other supporters think especially when I am over here feeling detached from everything going on at the game :( How you can come out with a bullshit remark about the atmosphere being so bad being a sign that the fans are actually enjoying the game ? Sometimes I wonder why I bother reading your posts

Augie - You do like your little moans, and you know what i've decided not to raise to the bait.

Out of interest do you have a little moan at Mrs Augie after smashing the life out of her..............or does she have a moan against you.

Well im just posting now as i was busy at the game...sorry about that! i dont tend to post on a forum whilst the game is going on? I really dont get that!

Was a decent performance today, everyone played well apart from Fabregas who gave the ball away constantly and looked very slow in possession.

I dont get all this having a go at Eboue, he was fine, had a decent game, as did Song, broke play up well and played the ball around nicely, shame his shot hit the post and came out after he had beaten a couple of players

Two excellent Vermaelen goals, especially the second one...BOOM!

The atmosphere was ok, nothing special but it was Wigan at home, and the slight drop in attendance was due to their fans not bothering, there were about 56 of them!

A case of got the job done today, which is how it should be against teams like that at home, i think we are doing fine! :barscarf:

I dont' do it at home games as I'm there (except this Wednesday) but you can either watch games on the tele with a laptop open checking others comments through-out the game.
Or most poeple like me when we play away games will be on PC's or laptops watching a Stream of the game anyway.
it so easy to open another tab or window and comment on the game.

Good result but I was expecting us to win about 3-0 anyway. It was quiet but what do you expect when you see a few Wigan fans that would barely fill a minibus and plenty of empty seats around them? Fab was crap, ref was crap, kept letting them bundle us over and it wasn’t until the second half before he got his card out for Wigan. By then we‘d had two bookings. I don’t know how good we are on recent results because we outplayed Man Ure and gave them a win but were totally crap v Man Shitty last week and deserved to lose. 4-0 v Wigan was nice but the thing that sticks in my mind is that we kept a clean sheet and we don’t often do that.
