Not only was he not scoring own goals or needlessly conceding penalties, but the lad had the audacity to actually make match winning saves!

Frankly, that level of competence scares the shit out of me, but no doubt Average-Al will be back soon, and normal service will be resumed

(Well done Vito! 8) )

Let's be fair abut this ! We have had similar games with Almunia - and we have !!!

It's the 10 outfielders that concern me -
TBN I can't remember Almunia making 6 good saves in a match.

To be fair to Almunia and i'm not his biggest fan he did in the first half of the CL game at OT last season.

But Almunia is not a top quality keeper.Give Mannone a run of 10 games then judge him.Not after one albeit great game

Good advice but most on here won't take it. Almunia and Diaby need to be burned at the stake, whilst Mannone and Ramsey should be immediately promoted on the back of 1 game each (although in Ramsey's case I'm still waiting for the one game to happen)

It was a lucky win, much in the vein of the Liege match. We struggled to pass the ball properly in the first half and created very little until very late on.

Although he undoubtedly has talent, I think the time has come for Diaby to produce more consistently, or for Wenger to recognise that he will never be a mainstay of the side. One decent performance every half a dozen games just isn't good enough and yesterday we might as well have been playing with 10 men, such was the paucity of his contribution.

People have been slagging Cesc off for being below par - and yes he has been. Yet his goals scored and assist stats (sorry DB10) are Zidane like in comparison to Diaby!! Plus the fact Cesc has produce the goods plenty of times in the past, whereas - although we've seen glimpses - we are still waiting to see the real Diaby performing how he should do on a consistent basis.

So my question is: how much longer do we realistically give Diaby to show his worth and prove he can be a vital member of this team before we consider cutting our losses? :?

The more I think about this game, the more im happy with the outcome.

V Leige and yesterday we had two tests that every team has to encounter at some stage of the season ie: coming from behind away from home, and winning when not only are you below par, the oppositon play well.

Granted neither opposition were top class, but to an extent that doesnt matter as it was the way Arsenal reacted that id look out for, and im pleased that we came through both tests. It doesnt mean we are going to have an amazing season for sure, but im asure it had done the confidence of the team a world of good that will put us in good stead in the future games - and has shown that the team does have a backbone.

Most interviews you read from the players mentions the belief and spirit in the squad, we can all have opinions on the drawbacks of the squad of course, but all we can really ask is the current crop go out there and fight their arse off for Arsenal - and the two games mentioned are experiences when you learn a lot about the team.

We have favourable fixtures coming up now, but none are easy in this league (the way the season is shaping up anyone can beat anyone) but we can hopefully get a run of form going now.

Remember winning 1-0 at CC with a Marlet own goal a few years back - we were utter shite for a month but that result got us back into our rhythm - hopefully yesterday can springboard us forward a bit now!

Support was superb yesterday, im sure that must help the lads as well :barscarf: :barscarf:

at least we were able to play poor and still get the result needed, something that we have struggled with in recent seasons. :barscarf:

Great photo...and we were doubting his enthusiasm after his non celebration against Wigan last week...he obviously cares a lot about the club and am sure he's the first one beating himself up about his recent performances.

Good win yesterday without playing well, grinded out a result, but still should not of allowed fulham the number of chances they had. One thing is playing badly and getting a result, clinging on against a mid table team, does make me worry still about our ability to hold on to leads in games, especially when it is going to come to the big games and silverware is up for grabs.

Mannone was outstanding and should keep his place even when Manuel is fit. Still dont understand yesterday why diaby was played, i wanted rosicky to start, and would of given us more crativity to break fulham down, and why is bendnter still played on the right? Would of thought coming up against hangeland it would be more of a benefit to play him through the middle. Arshavin should of scored, and was overall disappointing but i guess he probably isnt yet 100% fit after coming back from injury. I do prefer arshavin to play out wide as i feel he is 1 of the only players we have who can go past a full back with a bit of skill and stretch teams down the wing and get in behind there defences. Cesc pass and the finish from rvp was superb. One thing that really annoyed me yesterday was the amount of stupid silly fouls and free kicks we give away around the box :banghead:

Went to the kings arms pub before the game, got there about 1pm, had a good drinking session and a lovely hog roast!

Great atmosphere in the pub before and in the ground, i thought our support was awesome yesterday, one of the best i have experienced at a game and it does make you ask the question, that the club and players must wonder why our away support is so good at a london away game and why cant this be replicated at home. So the board do something about it! :banghead:

Ive put a couple of good videos of the day yesterday on my youtube page so enjoy!
