i'm very very very worried about that. we don't give our players more than 1-year-contracts if they're 30 or more, and tommy is 29... i'm really worried that he could walk out. and i think he's one of our best players, so it really makes me worried.

Bit of a balancing act. Shouldn't be that difficult but let's face it we have history in the contract renegotiation department.

Can understand if Wenger wants to see how he goes before deciding what sort of contract to offer. It’s still relatively early days in terms of proving his injury problems are fully behind him. And you’d hope Rosicky is non-c*ntish enough to understand that, especially after the club stood by him & essentially put him back to together again. Even if we didn’t give him the Humpty-Dumpty treatment purely out of the kindness of our own heart, he still wouldn’t be playing football any more full stop without all the surgery facilitated by the club.

But on the other hand you’d hope Arsenal are keeping him in the loop on that & at least talking to him instead of just stalling on contract negotiations until it’s too late a la Edu. At his age & after so long out the game (during his peak years too) you could understand Rosicky wanting to maximise the rest of his career, so if Arsenal were to let him think a contract wasn’t likely I’d forgive him wanting to talk to other clubs.

May come down to the issue of some kind of clause in his contract should he break down again. I’d be fucked off if he haggled over a wage increase though.

Gallas' contract is up in the summer, too.

I'd like to see him tied down to a contract soon, because come November, some clubs will be inviting him out for ice cream and "discrete" lunches at Manchester hotels

As for Rosicky, it would be very cuntish if he walked away in the summer because you can bet your life Citeh will offer £150k+ a week to secure him on a free.

He should realise he owes Arsenal for standing by him for so long, and sign a contract with us.

Of course, that's assuming Arsenal don't take the piss and leave him hanging too long or offering a relatively small wage. After all, respect is a two way street!

He seems a thoroughly decent chap, though... so I'm sure he'll make the right decision  (if not, he'll have Frank putting a death wish on him! :worried: )

It would be thoroughly infuriating if Rosicky having got himself fit - jumps ship.

I agree Wenger needs to make sure that he keeps Rosicky 'on-side'. But the surest way to maintian his interest would be to win something this season.

Like the prospect of a hanging, that should concerntrate the mind quite wonderfully. 8)

can't see him leaving, dosn't seem like a *word censored*

a 3 or 4 year contract needs to be agreed based on his fitness, (if he gets another serious injury his wages get cut drasticly)

This is going to be a tricky one...i'm a big fan of Roz and i would love to see him playing for the club for a good few years yet...but it would be madness to offer him any kind of contract until he has proven his fitness over half a season or more and even then it would be a big risk to give him a lengthy contract.
Unlike some of the other contract renewal balancing acts the club has been involved in and f*cked up in the past i have full sympathy with the difficuilt position they are in with renewing Rosicky's contract and could fully understand if we ended up losing Tommy on a free due to us leaving our decision to the last minute...

I would be severely disappointed if the club failed to retain him or especially if he chose to leave. He's been out for so long, it would only be right to repay the club by staying on now that he is fit and getting back to form.

If I were Wenger, I'd offer him a years extension right now with a clause that said if he plays more than 20 games this season a further 2 years are automatically triggered. Would seem a very fair deal to all parties.

See why wenger may wait due to his injuries but would like to see his contract tied up by christmas. Have been so suprised how quickly he has come back to form and hopefully (fingers crossed) he will only get better once his fitness improves.

Rosicky, RVP, AA in attack mouth watering
plus with Cesc pulling the strings behind them!!!! -- By the way haven't been on this forum lately but hope everyone slagging cesc off the last couple of weeks felt a tad embarassed on sunday - great performances by Cesc, pure class!!! I defended him so much it was boring me in the end - couple of bad games and people jump overboard!!!!

Yea i agree with you..but lets be honest he's been below par for a lot more than two games but he has earned the right for that to be tolerated.
If Song or Denilson had performed to the level cesc did on sunday just once, they could have played with their legs tied together for the rest of their careers and some on here would have continued biggin them up of the back of one performance. Cesc played like that for four or five seasons yet they have been slagging him off for the last 12 months.

I reckon we'll offer him 2 years with a games related break clause and I don;t think there is any chance of him leaving unless we offer something ludicrous
